Obtaining flash0 and flash1 folders Guide, quickly and easily

I just thought that I would shed some light onto a quick and easy method to obtain the flash0 and flash1 folders which are required to emulate other firmware versions and also for use with MPH GameLoader.

For this you will need the following:

-The eboot.pbp of the firware you wish to emulate (2.00 to 2.50 only)
-MPH Firmware Launcher 1.4.0 (installed on memory stick like all other Homebrew, i.e. PSP/Game folder

be sure to reset default settings on your psp first.

The Method:
========

1. Put the eboot.pbp file in the root of your memory stick

2. Assuming you have installed MPH Firmware Launcher 1.4.0 on your memory stick run it from the game menu in the usual way used to run Homebrews

3. From the menu at the bottom select Launch and press the x button

4. From the next menu go to 'Install A Firmware' and press the x button

5. Press the up arrow on the directional pad to navigate to the Install A Firmware screen and then select the option 'AUTOMATICALLY (WITH AN EBOOT.PBP)' and press x.

6. Press the up button to navigate to the Automatic Installation screen. For the PBP FILE option select CHOOSE and press x. Press up and then down until u highlight the eboot.pbp file and then press x.

7. You will then go back to the Automatic Installation screen. From here you can choose the folder to save the flash folders to but it would be fine if you skip this step as the flash folders will be saved in the root of the memory stick by default.

8. Still in the Automatic Installation screen. For the COPY FALSH1 option select YES.

9. Press the down arrow until INSTALL is selected on the menu (at the bottom of the screen) and then press x.

10. Then wait patiently for a few minutes while your flash0 and flash1 folders are being created. These folders will be stored in the directory you provided in step 7. If you didn't change anything (as described in step 7) then the flash folders will be stored in the root of the memory stick.

11. A message will say 'THE FIRMWARE HAS BEEN SUCCESFULLY INSTALLED. From the menu at the bottom select OK if not already done so and press x.


To Emulate Firmware:
==============

Follow the steps above to install the firmware. DO NOT move or alter any of the resulting files.

1. Load MPH Firmware Launcher 1.4.0 as usual like other Homebrews.

2. From the menu at the bottom highlight LAUNCH and then press x.

3. The resulting screen will have a list of the installed firmwares. Press up then highlight which firmware you wish to launch using the up and down arrows. Then press x and your firmware will launch.


To use flash folders with MPH Game Loader:
============================

1. Install the firmware as described in the first tutorial of this post titled 'The Method'.

2. The flash0 and flash1 folders will be created in the appropriate directory.

3. Copy the flash0 and flash1 folders to the mphgameloader folder in the root of the memory stick.

4. Follow instructions from the many posts (in the forum) on using MPH Game Loader in conjunction with UMD Emulator 0.8c and DevHook GL edition.


I wrote this tutorial as a step by step guide for many users who may be confused by other methods of obtaining the flash0 and flash1 folders. I hope this helps many people and any feedback is much appreciated. Also feel free to correct any errors I may have made.enjoy and good luck
