Listening to IGN Girlfight, the discussion was about picking a sex when available in a game, the thing that got me thinking was the comment "American guys always go for the male", being English i cannot comment on that, but i will say if a women is available i will use that option, especially so in games like Fallout / Oblvion and Mass Effect. Now im no homophobe but the thought that i will be looking at the butt of a guy for 50+ hrs when i have the option not to appeals to me, i know its only pixels but i like the choice unsure.gif

I always choose to play as a male character... maybe it's the immersion factor. I have no thoughts on staring at pixelated or polygonal butts throughout the game... it's a video game and doesn't matter for me. What matters is that I relate to the protagonist, and sometimes that is easier for a game to accomplish when I play as my gender.

I don't really care.

If the decision is purely cosmetic I just kinda go with the flow and pick whatever I'm feeling that day, for that game, or whatever.

If gender is tied to skills or class, I tend to pick the "magician" and that's why I was Lilith in Borderlands.

Every time I hear the "I play women, because who wants to stare at a dude's butt for 40 hours?" . I think two things: One, homophobe. Two, really loves pretending to be a woman, but has to use some macho justification for doing so.

It's okay to play a woman, just because.

I usually play a male in arghpeegeez, because I like to keep my game immersion separate from my tranny fantasies.

I always choose to play as a female if the option is there. I dig chicks, that's the main reason. I dig chicks that kick ass, another reason why I choose the female avatar. Most of my Dungeons & Dragons characters have been female. Most of my fave comic book characters are ladies. There's really nothing more to it. The only time I do not play as a female is if I'm playing with my wife and they won't allow both players to be female. So yeah, I'm super pumped for the female Gears and honked off there is no female Agent in Crackdown 2 despite the fact they showed one on the dashboard for the community playdate some months back.

I'm constantly baffled by the choice not to include female models in games like Crackdown. Skate had no female option until a sequel and plenty of complaining... mindboggling.

Also... in any "Sex" poll, you need to have a "Yes, please" option... just a tip.

I usually pick male characters, just because I'm a guy and I can identify with that character. I've thought about playing through Fallout 3 with a female character, but since the player never speaks, it doesn't seem like gameplay would vary that much.

Yeah, I laughed my ass off when I first saw that. To make it even funnier I have to tell you that my wife, who works in the fashion industry and is as obsessed over fashion as I am over my various geekery, has had such influence over me that I now comment on other women's clothes and shoes just as much as she does when we're in public. Yikes.

Get a room you two. I'm so confused if Pinata inseminated Snake's subconscious, or if Snake was reiterating the point, or if he missed the post altogether.

Male, for the immersion like others said. So when my character talks, it sounds nothing like a guy, otherwise I think it is another character talking to me, not my character talking.
And finally, no matter how feminist you are, no matter what you believe, the baddest trained female will always lose to the male. I know, fire it up, but it's the truth. Man are naturally stronger and more athletic. A woman has to really work hard to surpass a man, and even then, if a man works at it, he will always surpass her. That's my bias. tongue.gif
