Title: Netflix
Description: August 18th - August 23rd
johneightu - August 18, 2009 10:00 PM (GMT)
Expect weekly postings where we can talk about it. I cannot connect to Netflix at work right now (normally I can), so I will have to add them later.
Everyone Else feel free to post what they have upcoming or just recently watched.
*Note - The reason iof these posts being specifically "netflix" driven is because of the availability of Netflix on X-Box Live. Please feel free to talk about movies or shows you watch from anywhere: Hulu, rentals, theatre, etc. There will also be a new thread each week to keep it fresh.

Just watched M:I-3 this past weekend and thought it was pretty awesome. Maybe my favorite of the three ,but it's been so long since I've seen the first.
The Drubber 1 - August 19, 2009 02:23 AM (GMT)
Don't get me started...
Just watched: "Push" Ok, Sci Fi flick. Wanted more story. Decent watch.
Just watched: "Australia" Good flick. Nicole Kidman & Wolverine do a good job. Little long.
Just watched: "I love you, man" So awesome...Paul Rudd and Jason Segel is hilarious. And Andy Sandburg ta boot!
Also from the prof..."Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter" it is worth it.

Watched it a few years back for Craptastic! movie-night and it just wasn't as "cheesey-good" as I wanted it to be. Seemed to drag from what I remember. It was no "Curse of the Queerwolf," that's for sure.
The Drubber 1 - August 19, 2009 11:09 AM (GMT)
Yeah, it does drag at times...but that is over shadowed by the makeover of Jesus to punkish Jesus.
awful clever - August 19, 2009 02:27 PM (GMT)
I'll play.
Last 5:
Iron Man
Ratatouille
Batman Begins
Curious George: Goes to the Doctor...
Tropic Thunder
At Home:
The Land Before Time
Next 5:
Letters from Iwo Jima
Doomsday
3:10 to Yuma
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Garden State
It's a mixed bag.

Look at me start a thread and promise to update and post and I cannot . . . but I am blaming it on my internet. I will have limited conectvity for the next two days possibly. Good suggestions, though peeps. My queueeueueueueueuueeequ in Netflix is going to be 500 movies long!
Spicollidriver - August 19, 2009 03:04 PM (GMT)
As I mentioned in the other thread I use my netflix mainly as instant streaming. So I finished up Dexter season 1+2 and I might have to buy season 3. Watching L&O CI season 1 and really enjoying eps I haven't seen in awhile and remembering why I fell in love with this show. On deck probably My Name is Bruce, Richard Pryor Live , and See no Evil Hear No Evil (great and must for everyone ) .
prof_dresser - August 19, 2009 03:39 PM (GMT)
Children of Men is supposed to arrive at home today.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil is a classic for me. It was a tape that my grandparents owned along with Godzilla 1985 I've probably watched it a dozen times!
I want to reiterate that people should check out The Signal on instant, a really cool movie.

Uh huh, I agree, good stuff, but been many years since I have seen it. Might have to check that out again one of these days.
Currently I have these two movies:
Barton Fink (1991)
Night Watch (2005)
What I currently finished:
The Croupier(1998) - Clive Owen plays a wannabe writer who ends up taking a job as a croupier so he can study people. It is pretty slow, so action fans be warned, but it does have some intrigue, but nothing that I would really call shocking (which is what I as expecting). Overall, I would give it 3/5 stars, and suggest it as a rent for fans of the movie Rounders or Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Big Bang Theory Season 1 - I really enjoy this show, so I watched most of the episodes from Season 1 again in anticipation for Season 2 to release next month. Be warned, there are a few slow and dull episodes of this series(so if you watched one and didn't like it, it might have been one of those), but there are a ton of fantastic ones as well. Anyone big into nerd/dork humor should check this out if they haven't. Funny and semi-smart wrting with tons of math, comic book and pop culture jokes. 4/5 Stars, and recommended for anyone who liked Revenge of the Nerds, How I Met Your Mother.
Homestar Runner DVD's - These are just the DVD's of the animated cartoons you can watch on the web site. They pack a ton of crap and extras onto the discs, so I would recommend checking the DVD's out even if you have seen most of the stuff on the site. 4/5 Stars, and I would recommend it to anyone who is fans of the site or likes other silly shows such as Sealab 2020, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, etc

Hmmm, might have to finally set up my account for 360 since I upgraded my internet connection speed and should be able to watch streaming films, and will be sure to queue that bad boy up.

Last 5: Iron Man - 5 Stars Ratatouille - 4 Stars Batman Begins - 4 Stars Curious George: Goes to the Doctor... - Never seen it Tropic Thunder - 4 Stars
At Home: The Land Before Time - 4 Stars
Next 5: Letters from Iwo Jima - 4 Stars Doomsday (If this is the anime 3 Stars) 3:10 to Yuma - 4 Stars Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - 3 Stars Garden State - hardddddd . . um, 4 stars, teetering between 3 and 4 for me |
Edited with what I would rate them
johneightu - August 21, 2009 03:59 AM (GMT)
Night Watch (2005) - This is the first movie in a trilogy based on a book series . . . WOW did I really enjoy this movie. There are so many plot holes, terrible dubs, lame music and shitty camera work that it cannot be considered a "good" movie, but it was fun as hell! The basic premis boils down to two clans, one good and one evil, that have agreed to keep a pact in place that they will not go to all out war to claim humanity, but have to keep other in check to make sure someone doesn't break that pact. Think Matrix meets Blade meets Underworld and you have a good guess of how it goes. My personal rating is 4/5 stars, but I think most people would place it at 2 or 3.

I was trying to keep it the same you can rate it on Netflix(which is whole numbers, no decimals), which I think I gave it a 4. If I could decimal place it I would give it a 3.74

If they follow the book titles, it will be Twilight Watch, but as far as I see, it has not been announced yet. But I still need to see Daywatch . . HOORAY!

According to the Netflix site,
Big Man Japan is available via streaming this Friday. Based on the trailer alone everyone should watch this movie. Been waitin' for this for months! B)

That is awesome! I've been meaning to put that on my regular queue for a while now, since I read a review of it on CBR. But this is even better!!

The DVD finally comes out tomorrow, so streaming 3 days later is pretty damn awesome!

That looks pretty sweet. I've been meaning to try the Netflix party system. Perhaps this would be a good choice for that.
:)
