Title: I need your guys help picking a game.

Spicollidriver - June 11, 2010 04:51 PM (GMT)
So I have a list of games that I can pick up for free and I need your guys help in picking out one because I can't decide.

Darksiders PS3/360
Bayonetta PS3/360
3d Dot Game Heroes PS3
Dragon Age Origins PS3/pc
Assasins Creed 2 360
Blood Bowl 360 (ok I am kind of tempted to get this because for free I could look past problems if the :3DB: guys could help a bit)
Mass Effect 2 360/pc
Split Second pc
Blur pc
Front Mission evolved pre-order pc
Battlefield Bad Company 2 pc
Rogue Warrior pc (lets be honest leader of the pack)
APB pre-order pc(sounds like it has problems)
Toy Story 3 wii/pc (sounds like this might be cool)

I figured if anyone could help it would be all of you.

If you want to play Mass Effect 2 that would be my vote easily. Second to that would be 3D Dot Game Heroes, but only if you are a fan of the old Zelda's. If you are, then the game is an amazing throwback updated copy.

MeatLoafX - June 11, 2010 05:01 PM (GMT)
Mass Effect 2.

Skip Blood Bowl. If you are legitimately interested in it, wait until this fall when the legendary edition comes out for PC (it's not coming to the Xbox). It more than doubles the original game and should fix a number of issues.

I love BB for the XBox. However, I'm with Loaf. The game has many problems, and they are even worse if you are a new player. The PC update this fall will be a major improvement.

That said, if you do get it, I'll play/teach you anytime!

FRONT MISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

snakeheadfish - June 11, 2010 07:37 PM (GMT)
I can only speak for which I have played, in this order ...

Mass Effect 2
Assasins Creed 2
Dragon Age Origins

If you've played Mass E, than the sequel is a must. ACreed 2 was downright amazing as well so this was really hard for me to make it second place. DA:Origins is great fun, but you gotta like that type of RPG. It would definately take the most hours to play, I guess it just depends on how much time you have.

en3carnage - June 11, 2010 07:59 PM (GMT)
If you have played ME1 and liked it i could not recommened ME2 more, it does every good aspect of the origional better while dropping those that dont quite fit in to the flow of gameplay, absolute classic. :P

jessej07 - June 11, 2010 09:11 PM (GMT)
Definitely Mass Effect 2... especially if the first game was at all fun for you. But really, if you're a fan of games that are interactive and played through an input device connected to a central hub that interfaces with your television- play some damn Mass Effect 2.

I figured if anyone could help it would be all of you.

Darksiders: Try the Demo on Live, its almost 60-90 minutes long. I gave it a good 20 minutes. Rental Imo.

Bayonetta : Rental

3d Dot Game Heroes: I hear good things, but you gotta have a dirty PS3 to play it sadly ; (

Dragon Age Origins: Bioware makes awesome games, can't go wrong, unless you don't like Fantasy settings. Which I normally don't. ME>DAO for me because of the background setting. But I might give this a try later if time and finances permit.

Assassin's Creed 2: I just started the second one and had to return it before I could get anywhere with it (stupid school work and Snoopy's Flying Ace). I'd recommend this is if you liked the first AC.

Blood Bowl: I know zero about this game

APB: Ditto

Mass Effect 2: Would be my second choice. Even though I own the 1st Effect I haven't had a chance to play it, but I love the concept and just like with Assassin's Creed if you liked the first get ME2.

Split/Second: Boring

Blur: Good choice, but if it's for PC you won't get to play with us (of course I'll only get it once the 360 version drops in price ; ).

Front Mission: I played the Playstation era versions, not sure how this will pan out. If you like turn based strategy games, go for it.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 pc: A good option, but like Call of Duty the big draw is the multiplayer which requires twitch game play. If that's your thing go for it. Otherwise this will be an annoying game and the single player won't last you.

Toy Story: Looks interesting for PS360/PC. Not sure how dumbed down or different the Wii version will be but Games Radar had a review for the normal version and it looked promising. However, I would still say Rental.

So, basically if you played ME 1 or AC 1 get either of those. If not, I recommend DAO since that doesn't require prior knowledge and isn't a simple 10 hour experience or a chance-y purchase like the rest of the list.

Spicollidriver - June 11, 2010 11:05 PM (GMT)
Well 3d Dot Game Heroes might be a no because I might just shell out the $40 myself but I worry its overhyped for me it's like when you don't see a new movie the first few weeks its out and everyone keeps telling you why haven't you seen it yet.
I do know about the updated Blood Bowl coming out and am trying to play more pc games so I might wait . I have to admit the :3DB: totally want me to learn the game because it sounds cool and there is a part of me that misses having some fantasy game playing in my life being old enough to be a D&D player in my past. For free it's hard to be dissapointed and it could get me to buy the update later in the year.
Mass Effect 2 seems the obvious choice but like AC2, and Dragon Age I am not in a hurry to play and when I do I will regret not playing them earlier . I'm talking to you Fallout 3.
John I am intrigued didn't know you were a Front Mission guy . I actually imported the first game back when I ran a game store and everyone was so in to that game and would beg me to tell them how to get it. I unfortunately dropped off the games and want to get back in . If I do I'm calling you.
Vandic I appreciate your input because you and I seem to line up a lot on games a couple of your choices are games I might pay for myself like blur for example is $20 is cheaper on pc so I might just impulse buy it.
I like all of your out of the box thoughts .

I only played one of them and not even sure if I beat it, but enjoyed the hell out of it! I keep honestly wanting to give it a go some more.

Also, if anyone still plays stuff on Playstation 2, I suggest giving RING OF RED a shot . . . it got poor reviews but I really, really enjoyed that game!

Oh boy i hate 'Mech' games but this was an exception being like a turn based jrpg, it was an awsesome game and i was hooked on it but never beat that great big mech with the 'nuke'? on it.

Ok I picked up Mass Effect 2 hopefully I get sucked in and can get through it. Any tips for someone who didn't play part 1 .

en3carnage - June 21, 2010 06:02 PM (GMT)
Prob a bit late to say but get part 1 for a better understanding of the ME universe, its so cheap now.

Phil the guy - June 22, 2010 07:52 PM (GMT)
Pick up Blazing Angels 2. It's a very fun arcade WWII flight game and probably under $15 at this point. (I know you won't, but I thought I'd try)

I like and hate flying games which is why I didn't pick up Snoopy yet.
