It's kind of cool the all black and white kind of throws me a little

So is it cool because the black and white throws you a little or is it cool, but the black and white throws you a little? :P
The black and white aspect is probably the least likely to stay, I mostly wanted to get the basics down first. My first design was so generic that I was a little embarrassed by it. With this one you at least get a better idea of what we're about.
Spicollidriver - July 17, 2009 11:09 PM (GMT)
Why can't it be both ok. Maybe you should go the Sin City route add in a little blood red, and pee yellow.

I actually vote for bloody pee . . . but I am not the target audience this podcast is trying to draw :)

Too late too weigh in?
I like the logo, the radio antenna in the ipood makes sense. Personally I think the font is off. Maybe some color too?, i dunno.
"informative & entertaining in the digital age"
I like the slogan, but the logo... informative, yes. entertaining, no.
Could I do a better job? No. :)

Not too late, no. I actually haven't had access to photoshop since I posted this, but I will soon!
awful clever - August 12, 2009 02:02 PM (GMT)
If photoshop access is a issue you could use
GIMP, it's open source so it's free. It works with all the major graphic file types, including .psd.
If you prefer a vector graphics program (e.g. Illustrator) try
inkscape.

Thanks for asking! I'm about halfway done. Instead of using a premade font like I did for the first draft I'm making my own, so I just need to finish that up.

Ohhh, Mr. Fancy Pants. Sounds cool, thumbs up for creative effort.

Let me know what you think!
Edit: I've reverted the front page, check out the image here:

Superfro33 - August 28, 2009 06:45 PM (GMT)
I think it's really hard to read due to the font. (Which is twice as troublesome since it's already a weird word for folks to spell.)
I also miss the tagline.
Personally I really liked the last one we had, but with this new color scheme.
BavarianErin - August 28, 2009 06:55 PM (GMT)
I don't want it to seem like we're ganging up on you, but I sort of agree with Fro. At first glance it looks like "PseudoRad 10 Produce 10n5" I think a simpler font would make it easier to read and recognize, if you are going for "brand recognition" which I assume you are otherwise what is the point of even doing a name/logo.
The little radio tower is so cute though, it would make a great tattoo!
Superfro33 - August 28, 2009 06:58 PM (GMT)
It also appears to be wider, unless I'm just seeing things. I'm not a fan of that either.

You are seeing things because I made it off of the old one so I know it is the same width.

Ok...I think it's just the way the font is. The other one looked more balanced for sure.

No ganging percieved. Honestly, the only reason I threw it on the front page was so it could be seen "in context".

Well, maybe the text was a little wider. There was also the factor that this one blended in with the background better while the old one had the white box.

prof_dresser - August 28, 2009 07:46 PM (GMT)
Hey any thoughts on if I change the tagline to "Informative and entertaining audio for the digital age"?
awful clever - August 29, 2009 02:15 PM (GMT)
I get a "The action that you were trying to perform has failed." error... I'll have to try again later...

No, that is their new logo . . . catchy, ain't it?!?!
prof_dresser - August 29, 2009 05:40 PM (GMT)
Sorry, I think I used the wrong kind of link, I'll just paste it in here, cuz I'm a moderator and all that! ^_^

This is what it looked like in green:

I scrapped the green because the orange matches the template already and the green kind of clashed with the green of the Signed In logo.
Here's another one, much easier to read, but still going for that "technology" look I was going for with the first one:
prof_dresser - August 29, 2009 06:08 PM (GMT)
This one's for Mrs.Superfro. More radio antennas!
prof_dresser - August 29, 2009 07:05 PM (GMT)
Hrmm... For some odd reason the orange looks like it's getting lighter from the earlier ones. Maybe it's just an optical illusion. At any rate, I would make sure that the color code matched the one on the front page, so don't worry about that.
johneightu - August 29, 2009 08:15 PM (GMT)
I dig what would be the third one with the "bulbs" scoreboard look the best. It has a nice, clean slick look. The only strike I would give it is if you are going to use it for another medium, say printing it out for flyers, it could look weird there, but then maybe again, it wouldn't, but my gut tells me it would.
For an all around logo, I would go with the fourth. Using the same tower logo would really drive home the look as slightly more iconic without it being overkill (say like also having it repeating as background filler). In fact, having the tower there really "centralizes" it and draws people in to read the name first, not just look at the little Ipod with words next to it, but to say "oh, look, PseudoRadio Prodcutions . . oh, and a little Ipod thing . . . clever" Tilting the Ipod towards the lettering so it is resting on the P would do wonders in my opinion.
Look at me go on about something that I should have no input into ;)
Spicollidriver - August 29, 2009 09:03 PM (GMT)
I too like the fourth and agree with Johnnie, but on all of them for some reason the headphones bug me
BavarianErin - August 30, 2009 03:37 AM (GMT)
#4 gets my vote. It's clean, bold, easy to read. And orange.

I don't think I'd like that simply because it would screw up the whole headphones thing. They only really work if you think of the player (which by the way, I made halfway iPod / halfway Zune so as not to play favorites ;)) as laying down flat on a surface and you're looking down on it.

Not true. That's why I'm posting this stuff here instead of just picking something myself and going with it. First and foremost, I think the people who support us should be happy with the webpage.
Now I'm torn too. I brainstormed the radio tower version while walking home from breakfast yesterday, threw it together quickly and it really looks pretty good to me. Although the distance of the lettering to the top kind of bugs me, and I don't want to increase the size of the font. though, the box is the same color as the background for the webpage, so I might not even notice it when it's on there. I still like the look of the round lights version though. Hrmm... And I'm not going to mash the two together, that would be too busy.
So far it looks like radio tower is winning against round lights 2-1, anyone else want to sound off before we declare a winner?

See, and I don't have access on my home computer to much for photo/logo editing anymore, or I would show you what I mean, because I would leave the headphones, but copy them, crop the exiting ones out, then mirror them so they are flipped to the other side falling behind the text. I actually suck at editing stuff, but that is what I would TRY to do ;)
And I am just trying to think of something that visually pulls the eye in, not please me ;) I will go to the worst looking sites if the content is good
*Edit* - Also, I am a huge whore for bookmarks, those are something I use all the time and can never have too many of, so the logos you are using right now could easily be turned into one for promotion . . . just size it so you can fit multiple ones onto cardstock, put the web address and the logos of all the shows on the back with maybe a bit more about the shows and BAM . . bookmarks. Also a neat way to print them out would be to fit like four of them on a comic backer board, then cut them up. Using nerd supplies to promote nerdcasts can be fun and cheap!
awful clever - August 31, 2009 01:47 PM (GMT)
I like the 3rd version. The unique but easy to read font for "pseudoradio productions" really makes it stand out.
I do like the incorperation of the antenna in the 4th logos text so I'm not offended by the 4th either.
prof_dresser - August 31, 2009 02:30 PM (GMT)
I'm trying out #4 today. Take a look, let me know what you think with it on the page.
