Agree on all points regarding Danger Club, it was a brilliant read.

I thought it was a particularly cool reveal when you saw Yoshimi's big case was the size of the brass knuckles, making her teeny-tiny! Also, that panel at the end when you could see Apollo's teeth through his ripped cheek; I felt that was a really good device. Up until then it was the usual POW, KER-BLAM comic stuff but that was really jarring gore, making you stop and think "Wow, they're properly worked this guy over. They must hate him!"

One point you didn't discuss that made me think a bit; right at the beginning when the 3 main guys meet up the Magician says he's been having dinner with his folks. This made me wonder about the world a bit. You don't see his parents (apart from in the photos), or anyone else in the world bar all the sidekicks, but I kinda assumed all their parents were the super-heroes that were dead. Perhaps reading too much in to it, but it seemed a bit weird as a throw away comment given the apocalyptic nature of the world.

Whatever, I'm on board for an extended run with this book.

Cheers,

Dom

I thought this was two different characters at first, which led to some confusion while talking to my buddies about it on our podcast. It had nothing to do with poor work by the author or artist, just my complete inability to pay attention apparently. I love that they combined the Wasp/Iron Man type archetypes into the same character in this one!

I sort of read that part as he was sitting in the room with pictures. Trying a semblance of normalcy. I talked in my review about this can easily be misconstrued as a all ages title especially with the experience of the team making it and then bamm

America's Got Powers - woooooo

Yeah, I was very curious about Danger Club because of Walker and Jones's history with all-ages title. One thing that I thought was nice (and didn't mention on the show) was that the coloring definitely gives the vibe that it's not meant for kids. The tones are darker than anything else I've seen them do, and yet they manage to keep it from getting muddy or too dark to see.

Good point the artwork was very well done. It seemed like they did a lot with a small color pallette

I think Sean liked Fanboys v Zombies more than I did. Didn't hate but it was too pop culture and felt dated as I read it.

it was a dollar! Dumb and fun, like Jason vs. Freddy or 2012, but 2the will have to win me over in art and story. Time will tell.

Sidenote: I really have to cut back on all these 1st issues. 4 this week with no plans on buying a 2nd, what is this the 90s?

one thing I forgot to mention on the show, but you could probably hear it in my voice was that I love Danger Club so much, I want to take it behind a middle school and get it pregnant.

Not sure if you read my review but yes it's a buck and I did recommend it. But to keep going I need more but I did like the ending. I leaning towards thinking that all that was meta and not bad writing, but we shall see. Danger club you're right. 'fro mentioned on twitter yesterday he liked Americas Got Powers better and I agree I think it was a better book but I'm more excited for Danger Club #2 than Powers.
