Pale fingers, a far cry from long but with their own kind of grace to them, were rested on the glossy surface of the table. She did not doubt its cleanliness; Mrs. Crawford had been coming to this particular restaurant for as long as she could remember, if only because it appeared the cleanest out of all of them. Not to say she was accusing the restaurants she didn't frequent of being dirty, she just had a few standards to uphold, and she saw how often the servers were wiping everything down. It was like they knew of her drifting attention and knew that she would see them doing so, and therefore they had roped her in. Every time she planned a meeting for lunch it was here, and they knew her by name and by her order how she was feeling that day.

The owner was a charming woman, a bit old and homely in her aging process. Being Ariun, she was constructed to perfection, but things were beginning to break down with her - Leia saw it, but she smiled as the woman headed over with her tall glass of ice water, two slivers of lemon floating among the ice. A spoon rested in the glass as well, as per Leia's order. The smile widened when the glass was placed in front of her and she raised her dark blue eyes to the older woman.
"Thank you," she reached out to touch the woman's arm, and her elder smiled and nodded at her.
"What are we having today, my dear?" She asked, patting Leia's shoulder.
"I think I'll just have a bowl of that delightful fresh fruit I saw delivered this morning to start off with. You remember what I like, right?"
"Of course I do, Leia. It'll be out shortly."

And with that, she was left to her lemon-tinged ice water and her thoughts. Swirling the ice and fruit around in the glass with the spoon, she then used it to fish out a piece of ice, which was promptly popped into her mouth. Her lips were tight for a second as she adjusted to the jolt of cold, but then she relaxed, eyes leaving the glass to flicker about the restaurant again. Today was an on-her-own day. Leia had no clue where her husband was, nor where any of her lady friends were. Desperate to be out of the house, however, she had ventured out for a shopping day and, obviously, a bit of lunch to give her feet a rest.

She was clothed in a lovely rose color today; faint, far from abrasive, the hem of which had been shredded. The missing material was not in her hair, but for one long strip that held the messy locks up into a sort of bun. The rest of the fabric was scattered about the rest of her outfit; one earring was simply a bow of the hem, and another bow was tied about the laces of her heels. A bracelet of shreds hung around her right wrist; the arm was entirely exposed, the sleeve having been ripped away that morning. It was not an uncommon look for her, although it had taken those around her several visions like this to get used to her style. Now the odd looks didn't happen enough for her to notice, and certainly not for her to care.

Biting down on the ice, she chewed it until it melted entirely and slid down her throat. Glancing toward the kitchen door, she then went back to observing the restaurant, content to people-watch, although companionship would not have been too dismal today. It was a nice day... really, people should be out for a walk, not locked up in their homes! And it was only an hour after lunch time, so where were her friends? Where was her entertainment?

The soft fabric of her dress came down to her knees, the flower print lively against the white base and black accents. She did not see the color, however; what should have been purple, blue, and red were simply masses of gray, most even meshing to appear as on solid ‘color’. The woman knew better, having remembered exactly what she had once been told about the dress and the colors that were on it. There were no tags, no physical notes that reminded her of these things. No, she had to remember everything in her Ariun closet and know exactly what matched with what. Mismatching colors was always the first sign to a Zodiun in the midst of Ariuns, and she was not about to blow her cover over a simple wardrobe malfunction.

Gray, colorblind eyes looked at the reflection in the rearview mirror of her four-door sedan. She checked the fringe of her blonde bangs, their ends sweeping over her face. The hair and it golden hue was made possible only by the wig she wore. While she could have easily gone without the wig, she had preferred to use it. It would be one less thing she was recognizable for. If need be, she could also remove it and run, no longer having the bright head of hair as a beacon to her location. She blinked her eyes, doing her best to see past the well-crafted blue contacts that made her eyes a gentle aquamarine. Mascara weighed heavy on her eyelashes, but it did not bother her. She did not like it, but she had grown used to it in her years of being above ground as Kelly Marie.

Out of her vehicle she stepped, the round-toed heels clicking under her as she walked on the pavement. She closed the door and made her way around it, purse hung at her elbow. The air was warm for the middle of the day, though she had been through worse – she could handle much worse. Idly she walked into the restaurant, fake blue eyes looking around the rather desolate place. The hostess asked if she was the only one, to which Sid simply raised her hand and shook her head. She proceeded to tell the woman she was looking for someone who was already seated. At that time her eyes fell on the unruly, curly hair that she had been looking for. Sid smiled kindly to the lady and walked on, making her way over to Leia’s table.

”Do you mind if I join you?” she asked, walking up to her side, ”I’m not one for sitting alone, so I hope you do not mind the company.” Her voice was young and sweet, matching the soft smile on her face that she wore as a mask. It was impeccable, her teeth express and warmth in her flesh – yet she felt nothing of it on the inside.

S E T T I N G
WASHINGTON CITY
2588 A.D.

Everything as we once knew it has changed. Desert wastelands cover the earth; the oceans and streams are radiated; the air is polluted. In all of the chaos one power stands strong: ECHELON. Once a secret American organization, ECHELON is now the provider of the new race of humans called Ariuns. Order is strict; death lies around every corner. Secrets are never safe for long.

In the deserts another race thrives. Their evolution has allowed them to adapt to the harsh conditions of the desolate planet. It has also allowed them to build their own society, be it disorganized, outside of ECHELON's control. Their battle has already started as a struggle to regain what is rightfully theirs: the planet.

Which side will you choose to fight with?

It is currently the MIDDLE OF SPRING and the skies are cloudy with spotty showers. Humidity is high, recommending inhabitants to dress accordingly for comfort.
