Troy has not been eating very well lately and has lost some weight. So we had a blood test done on Wednesday and stopped the Previcox he was on. Today, I got the results back and Troy's liver values are slightly elevated (but not enough to really worry about), but his kidney values are elevated too. So I have to bring in a urine sample tomorrow to do further testing. sad.gif

Sorry to hear Troy is unwell. Good luck with the urine test.....ha

Mars had some blood tests done this week as he has developed a skin rash and the vet thinks it is an allergy. But his basic blood tests came back showing he was anaemic, I had never heard of a dog suffering this before. We too have been asked for a urine sample but trying to catch him first thing in the morning is a joke. Rushing round the garden in dressing gown and slippers with a plastic container.

Anyway i wish you well with his problems, how old is he? Its always sad when your friends get ill. Chin up we all have to face illness at some time.

Troy is 10, but you would never know watching him other than being a little stiff these days. He is very well in himself, so I am hoping it's just a temporary thing. We'll see what the urine test says.

Troy was back at the vets today for another blood test. He is still not eating enough and has lost a lot of weight. So we are investigating further now.

I know how you feel I am at my wits end with my two at the moment and thinking of having my wages paid direct to the vet so I just receive what the insurance pays out.....

I hope your vet is good with investigations, I might have to change mine soon as I am not happy with the approach and despite having lots of blood tests showing no allergy's he is still scratching and scabbing and now got diarhea which i cant spell.

I take it his kidneys were ok with the urine test.

Troy's blood test came back fine, liver values back to perfectly normal, which is a relief!

My vet is great, really works with me and is very caring. We are trying anabolic steroids to start off with to see whether we can get his appetite going again! If that doesn't work, then we will have to look further.

Have you had a thyroid test done on your dog? My spaniel has lots of allergies and his skin improved drastically once he was diagnosed with and treated for hypothyroidsm.
