My Great Pyrenese' name is Ranger he turns 1 year old at the end of this month and already weight 110 lbs!!!!

How do I keep my Pyrenees from chewing on everything!? Heres a list of what he has chewed: (I feel like it's out of control) sad.gif

-Wood siding on the house
-Wood railing on the deck
-Rose bushes with thorns
-Shoes laces
-Shoes
-Vent on the outside of the house
-Cable for TV

I have bought MANY chew toys to try and satisfy him! He likes them for about an hour then demolishes the toy and moves on to the house... ohmy.gif
I try to keep him busy as much as possible, but with a newborn at home now it's hard to find the time.

Thanks for any feed back!!!

Oh ya... Does any body else Pyr lean on them and almost push you over?? blink.gif

You pup is at an age where the molars are settling in, so they basically go through another chewing stage.

The best thing to do really is to provide as much chewing stuff as possible. One option is certainly a stuffed kong. Instead of feeding your dog from a bowl, I would soak the food, stuff it in kongs and then freeze them! Then give to your dog at breakfast and dinner time and it will take him a good while to get through the food, and it will give him plenty of opportunity to chew on the kong too.

Of course, it's also important to keep as much as possible out of reach. And you may only want to give him access to certain rooms etc where you can supervise him!

But definitely get some kongs, that should keep him nice and busy. There are also treatballs which you could also use, though they are not for chewing!

PS. And yes, our pyrenees is also a leaner and you have to be steady on your feet when he wants a cuddle. laugh.gif
