Name: Bishop Taylor
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Job: Private Investigator

Starting Inventory: revolver, cigarettes, sunglasses

Description: Bishop stands at 6’1” with sandy blond hair tied back in a ponytail and slightly twitchy brown eyes. Despite being in good shape and obviously working out, he looks constantly nervous, jumping at shadows. His eyes are twitchy, he never seems to be able to stand still and his hands are always fiddling with something, usually a cigarette. Bishop is dressed in a garishly bright Hawaiian shirt, jeans and a pair of scuffed trainers.

Short Bio: Bishop was born on Naom, his mother having apparently won some lottery a few years back, ensuring that none of them ever had to work again. His young life was uneventful, he was a happy child, and his bravery in the face of stupid stunts won him a good deal of popularity amongst his peers.
However, when he was 7 years old a dare went wrong and he vanished during a field trip. He was found several hours later curled up under a tree in Naom woods in a catatonic state. After he came back to his senses, Bishop was never quite the same boy he’d been before. Sometimes he seemed the same, but other times he withdrew into himself completely. On top of this, his parents were growing concerned with how often they heard him talking to himself in his bedroom in the middle of the night.
Soon came psychologists, and medication, lots of medication, though none of it seemed to work. According to those who studied his case, he believed he was talking to the island, having given it some sort of personality. What he told them about his conversations with the island troubled the psychologists greatly, since Bishop’s imaginary friend was apparently not very nice at all, and more than one psychiatrist quit after Bishop confided in them some of the things it had said. What was worrying on top of this was that Bishop’s original fear of the voice seemed to be fading, indeed he seemed to be starting to view it as a friend.
When he was 13, Bishop vanished for several days, only to be found back in the woods once again, bedraggled and half-starved, laughing and talking to the imaginary voice. His parents decided that enough was enough, and had him packed off to a “special” school back in America. The strange thing was, as soon as the island was behind him (though it took quite a while to leave, a nasty road accident made them miss their first boat and the one after it apparently sunk en-route to the docks), Bishop reverted almost instantly to the friendly outgoing child he’d been before.
He was in the special school for little more than a year before it was concluded that he was entirely healthy in mind and body. However his parents didn’t believe that coming back to the island would be good for him, so suggested he stayed in America with an aunt instead. He spent the next 14 years there, finishing school and due to a certain obsession with old film-noir movies becoming a private investigator.
It was not until he was 27 that things started to go wrong. Suddenly it seemed as if every case he took ended in tragedy. Clients got violent when they found out their partner had been cheating, people had accidents, someone even got run down on the way out of the office after having stopped in just to ask if he could use the bathroom. Bishop’s fiancee slipped over at the local swimming pool and broke her neck, Bishop’s aunt was mauled by a rabid pitbull, and even Bishop’s accountant was crushed when one of his filing cabinets fell on him. Bishop didn’t stay in America long after all this, and with a newfound nervous smoking habit, he got on a boat back to Naom to see his only surviving relatives, his parents.
The journey back to Naom went surprisingly well, nothing went wrong whatsoever and Bishop soon found himself back on the island. Unfortunately things were no better once he arrived, and learned that his parents had vanished shortly after he’d left the island, though the details had been kept from him due to his shaky mental health at the time. He never did find out the details of their death, as anyone who might know tended to get very pale and shaky when asked, making quick excuses and hurrying off.
Bishop isn’t sure when everyone vanished, it might have been a couple of days after he got back, or a few months, but he doesn’t feel like he’s really alone, and that isn’t just because of the things he’s seen lurking in the fog. He feels like he’s found an old friend, but the comfort is mixed with a sickening feeling in his stomach, like maybe this old friend hasn’t forgiven him for something yet...

Skill: World-Walker - Bishop has a special connection to the island, one he does not quite know of himself. In fact, this special connection to Bishop, can be both beneficiary, and harmful. As Bishop walks the island, he will be able to freely shift worlds, from that of Naom, to that of the Other world, walking in and out of worlds without restriction. This can only be done in certain situations though, as he needs a reflective surface to look through...

Traits: Old Friend - Bishop may have been away from Naom for nearly fifteen years, but that doesn't mean the events that passed still don't haunt him. As Bishop roams, he will get subtle pushes and urges, as if telling him what to do, or where to go. This may be stronger the closer he is to the truth...

Chain Smoker - Bishop's a Smoker, and needs a puff every so often. However, his is for special situations. Whenever he is suffering from a mental status effect, he need only take a puff from a cigar, and the effect is gone. If he doesn't have a puff every so often though, all effects will come back...
