It really looks pretty, T. I won't post any because mine would show 6 inches of snow over a solidly frozen pond. Winter has suddenly set in for us.

You better read that thread again.
It wasn't the snow that I didn't want to see. LOL

Your orfes are getting big.
Would you say they are about 12 inches long?

Yes, I would say they are all of 12 inches and then some. I sure love those guys. I get more compliments on them than I do the koi. I guess cause they are so zippy around the pond.

Any idea as to there they top out length wise?

I was just thinking about those "fish caves" I put in the pond and how all the fish could fit in them. Now, the orfes hardly go in them. The koi seem to like the longer one of the two and are stacked in there like cord wood. I don't know how they all fit in one cave.

My largest orfe when measured at death was 18.5 inches long.

My orfes are 13 years old and are about 12 inch long . I don,t expect them to get any bigger in my pond.
I would guess that size is related to how many inches of fish you have in a gal. of water.
Do you think that is correct Robyn?

There are many factors - number of fish, volume and surface area of the pond, climate, etc. You have a lot more orfe but I've got goldfish and koi taking up room in my pond. Your orfe have had babies while mine have not so your setup must be better!

That is a real compliment coming from the one who taught me about ponding.

But I am sure my setup is not better, maybe just more suitable for orfe spawning , because of luck.
