Cole's fine. He's the same pitcher as he was last year. Only difference is that he is getting unlucky with a higher BABIP then league average all season. His K's, walks and HRs per 9 innings are virtually identical to last year.

BABIP as a pure luck measure aside (it works sometimes, isn't perfect), Cole has had more meltdown innings this year than last year, and he's on a lousy streak in the playoffs. Hopefully, we can write it off to being jittery due to having a kid during the playoffs.

Back to the bronx. Hopefully Girardi's call to throw everyone on 2 days rest backfires. I don't think CC can do it twice.

This series is over. Who going to pitch for the Phillies on Wednesday? Pedro? He'll get chased early and the Yankees will shell the Phillies BP. As long as Pettite can keep the runs to under 6 I think the Yankees win that game.

Hmm looks like I hit the nail on the head with that prediction.

Gotta admit that watching the Yankees millions running around after the win kind of reminded me of why I am so down on baseball. Kinda like watching the Dream Team celebrate winning an Olympic gold. In both cases, there was a display of exuberance but it's hard to think of it as genuine when the accomplishment is almost anti-climactic for the players that went there in hopes of gaming the system.

A Yankee afterthought like Nick Swisher would be a vital cog on many teams around the Majors.

Somehow I doubt the players feel that way.

Still trying to figure out how the Phillies got to the WS with that pitching staff.

Probably because the NL cannot hit at all.

Well, the best pitcher that we began the year with (and NL rookie of the year candidate) was put in the bullpen-a rookie can't handle starting in the postseason, but apparently can handle learning an entirely new role. Yeah, that didn't work out. Hamels looked like he was bouncing back at the end of the season, but regressed in the playoffs. Yanks just jumped on every one of our mistakes though-that's ultimately why they won.

Hey, it's all good in a society where a Charles Barkley elbow to the head of an Angolan basketball player is just the cost of doing business on the way to Olympic gold.
