well pokemon sapphire and ruby were cool but then emerald came and killed both of them. since in sapphire and ruby you can catch either kyogre or groudon but emerald you can catch both abd then theres the battle fronteir

Emerald lacked some Pokemon that could still only be found in either Ruby or Sapphire.

Furthermore, Emerald forced trainers to use a National Dex that required conditions to get it. For people like me, who enjoy using Eggs as a way to transfer starter replacements over, Emerald was somewhat of a letdown.
