So as all of you SHOULD know, the Gold and Silver remakes that almost every fan has been dreaming about for the past 4-5 years are almost here... We finally have proof of their existence, we've seen the screenshots, we even have sampled some of the new features and updated music (atleast if you've seen the Pokemon Sunday Episodes on Youtube or on another site)
Since these are remakes, much of the content is going to remain the same... what does change in these editions will make or break the public appeal for these games. This is a hard job for people making the games, as they have to decide whether to keep the old elements that might be obsolete or that were placed in there for size issues (like Kanto losing a lot of its main attractions), so as to stay as close to the "original" as possible, or to go on and revamp the system, something that might upset fans (like the fact that some fans are upset at the fact Crys got replaced by the new girl). These decisions are important to the success of the game, and we'll just have to wait and see how they turn out.
So voice your opinions on the matter... Discuss the latest news, the coolest videos, what you hope they will bring back, theories on what they might change or include (Sevii Islands, anyone?), and your reactions to certain tidbits of information.
Enjoy.

Yup... though, I wonder if they follow because they're your starter, or because they're the first Pokemon in your party (I think it'd be awesome to have your first Pokemon following you *imagines a Pidgey or a Deoxys or even a Ho-oh following Gold* XD)
If anyone wants the two links to the Pokemon Sunday Clips (both are like 5 minutes long, and feature the Sugimori artwork revelations and stuff)
So far, I love Azelea Town's Theme, and New Bark's... Elm's Lab (the third of the three songs revealed) sounds too much like circus music for my tastes...

Second Pokemon Sunday update. The gameplay vid starts at 2:09. For those curious, there was no video last Sunday. Just a picture... The same one we've seen, at Ilex Forest, with the Pichus. And I seriously doubt you'll be able to go around Goldenrod with a Dialga. =/

The game is going to be awesome, especially traveling in two regions. :3 They might add some more things at the end after Kanto since... you know, Firered/Leafgreen has the Sevii Islands? Kirby: Superstar Ultra has 3 new modes? And other remakes with new things at the end? : P
Q: Can you catch the ear-notched Pichu? If you can, what happens when it evolves? :0

It's supposed not...
The most basic evidence would be... It's sprites aren't programmed into D/P/Pt. And unlike Rotom/Giratina/Shaymin, it's not a simple "form change"... Trust me, if they wanted you to get Notch-Ear Pichu, they would have probably given it out first, rather than Pikachu-Colored Pichu.

Well, they're giving out PC-Pichu because DPt don't have the sprites, but I wouldn't be surprised if the event allows you to get notch-eared Pichu, but with something that makes it impossible to trade to Sinnoh...

They could always warn you when you're going to trade the Pikachu-Colored Pichu to D/P/Pt, or the Pichu might turn back to the original sprite.
Also, some people say you can never trade from HG/SS to D/P/PT, which is not going to happen. I mean, FR/LG can trade over to to R/S/E, right?

I can see the games not initially trading (like FR/LG forbidding trade with R/S/E until you get the Ruby and Sapphire), but they'd have to allow the games to trade...
I wonder if they will include Pal-park... I don't care too much either way... I rarely use Pal Park as it is... (Only trades in starters, legends, and trained pokemon)

Can you complete the Platinum Pokedex without HG/SS starters?
Anyways, I'll get Soul Silver, even though I'm playing Shiny Gold X, new featurez and gen remake is awesome. (Dragonite is moar better)

Nope, you need all pokemon except Mew, Lugia, Ho-oh, Celebi, Deoxys, Jirachi, Manaphy, Phione (I think), Shaymin, Darkrai, and Arceus...
I'm not sure though...
HeartGold is where it's at (But I'm getting both... I will adventure with all of the starters, but I will love Cynda the most!) I might even see about getting HG from japan when it releases... though, not reading text will be a letdown...

...Why wouldn't it appear...?

You need Manaphy in Platinum... You can get it in your Pokedex by seeing one in a Book in Mr. Backlot's mansion in Platinum.

Pretty much exactly the same, here. =3 Although I know some Japanese...
I was thinking of importing either Heart Gold or Soul Silver (most likely Soul Silver) from Japan when it comes out. If I do, I'm choosing Chikorita on it...
When it comes out in English, I'll be getting both copies of the game... Heart Gold will be my "main", and I'll be choosing Cyndaquil... My English Soul Silver will use Totodile...

If they don't include Pal Park, they will include DSi features, and since you can pal park to DPt, there isn't as much of a need for Pal Park in HG/SS...
You don't need to CATCH Manaphy though, that's what he was asking, about whether they count toward the certificate for completeing the dex or not...
I really want an Espeon this time... so I'm hoping either to trade an Eevee into HG/SS from DPt (if they are compatible from the beginning), or maybe getting the Eevee in through the Japanese version... if I get the Japanese version...
I'm worried about getting scammed though... I'll need to find a reputable source sometime...

Not everyone owns D/P/Pt. =/ And even than, why include a transfer feature in one game, and not the other. It's more than just some thing... It merits it's own option on the menu.
It's a "4th gen feature" moreso than it is a "DPPt" feature

But this is the thing though, DPt was released for the DS/DSLite, while HG/SS will be released in the DSi era. If Nintendo wants to market the DSi well, it will remove any features that depend on the DS/DSLite (like Pal Park), and add features that only the DSi users can access. It's not a matter of "It's a generation feature", it's a matter of marketing. I'm worried about buying a Japanese Version of the game from a less than reputable source and not getting the game. Especially with a game release this big, EVERYONE is going to be selling them online... and with my luck, I'll get a Lemon... -T-
