A winding path leads to heaven A place to rest your head On clouds with angels you now sleep With you safely in gods hands
______________________________________________
Rhyker was still thinking of the night. The night that everything had changed for her. The night she became lonely. The night power had eaten her brain. The night her brother was killed by the same power.
She was in the courtyard, and crying. Very heavily. She was writing in her journal poems that she had seen. They were always sad, and this one was the worst. It brought back how she viewed Rhyner. He always knew that he would go to Heaven, just because he was a hunter.
______________________________________________
We will remember you forever When we gaze into the sky Always in our hearts and minds Not a moment without you will pass by
______________________________________________
Rhyker looked into the sky, and out there, somewhere, was Rhyner. He was being loved by Jesus, and he was living with the angels. He was with the people of God. Her people. She then felt a tear run down her face, and fall into her journal. It left a damp mark.
She wiped the back of her hand across her eyes, and tried to smile. She remembered the last good time she had with Rhyner. Rhyner and her were racing, and she had just beat him. He had thrown a little fit, and she had teased him. This made her smile, not only then, but now. She missed teasing him. It was always fun.
______________________________________________
So sleep in restful bliss For someday we will meet once more Until then you will be deeply missed By all whom you adored
______________________________________________
She continued to smile, and looked back into the sky. She knew he was smiling, and he was missing her. She then closed her eyes, and acted like he was there. She whispered to herself, "Please Forgive Me." Before she opened her eyes, she imagined him nodding, and giving her a hug. The last thing she wrote was,
Rest In Peace.

We needn't mention that Landon was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Nor do we need to mention that this, this was the wrong girl. On top of that, he was- undeniably- the wrong person to find her. Everything about this was wrong, but we're talking about Landon. Heaven only knows that right and wrong could go fuck themselves in his book. Life was life, however it played out was how it played out. Whether it was wrong or right made no damn difference to him.
But we're getting a bit off track.
A girl crying in the courtyard would normally not even catch his interest. He had better things to do with his time than comfort someone he didn't know- things like training. Or hunting. Yes, hunting was a much better alternative than some stranger staining his coat with tears as he comforted them. Then again...
This girl had caught his interest more than once. She was no vampire, to be certain, and this implied that she wouldn't want help from him. But she was beautiful, and seemingly unattainable. He knew about her- knew how she felt towards vampires. She made it no secret that she wasn't precisely in love with the blood-sucking race.
Unattainable? That meant challenge for Landon. The young vampire loved a challenge.
Challenge or no, we return to the present situation: a beautiful girl- for yes, she was beautiful- crying and alone in the courtyard. And although those who didn't know him well would've dubbed him a jerk, someone who wouldn't give a damn, his family would not be surprised at what he decided to do.
"You must want someone to reach out to you." His silky smooth voice drifted from where he now stood, a few feet behind her. "I mean, crying in a public place, it's begging for someone to notice. Not that you would need to cry for me to notice you." He searched his memory. "Rhyker, isn't it?" He'd taken classes with her before.
Something of interest; when something catches Landon's attention, it's hard to deter him. This meant that no matter the girl's reaction to him, he would stay and talk. He would attempt to win her over. Not that it had ever been that hard for him, what with his dashing good looks and charming smile. But this girl, he somehow knew she would be different. That would make him just that much more determined to win her over.

So had she thought of a vampire interrupting her sadness? No, not really. She would have rather jumped off a cliff than sit and talk with a bloodsucking douchebag. But he seemed really nice, and she couldn't help but actually look up and see him. Shit she thought, he is hot.. She felt horrible. She couldn't help but blush a little as she thought he was hot. She closed her journal, and looked up at him. Game face on Rhyker.
"What the hell is your problem!? I don't want anyone to notice me, Especially you Landon. Yes, my name is Rhyker. Now what the hell do you want besides get on my nerves!?" She looked at him, right in the eyes. She knew he was a vampire. One, because his body language just screamed BLOODSUCKER! Two, because he acted all high and mighty. And last but not least, he was a jerk. But weren't all the bloodsuckers jerks!?
Sure did seem like it too her.
She sighed, Rhyner probably wouldn't want her being a major bitch. He wouldn't like her. But she couldn't help it. They started it. If they didn't exist, Rhyner wouldn't be dead. But she just thought something, maybe if they didn't sort of flare around they were alive, then the world wouldn't need hunters.
Simple as that.

You have to admit, he had it coming.
Landon even had to admit as much to himself. They'd had a few interactions in class before this; none of which had been pleasant, to say the very least. But, didn't I mention before? Landon loves a challenge. And Rhyker presented a hell of a challenge. She obviously held some sort of grudge against vampires, one he didn't understand. Okay, so, maybe he did. Everyone these days seemed to hold a grudge against vampires.
Or maybe she just held one against him, for his dashing good looks.
He couldn't help himself. He laughed aloud, grinning and shaking his head. "What the hell is wrong with me?" He laughed some more, unable to contain it. She amused him, to be sure. He raised a brow as she asked what he wanted. Time to work a little bit of his charm. He took a chance, reached out to lift her chin a little as he leaned in closer.
"Oh, I don't know, Rhyker. Ever consider it could be you?" Time to scare her a bit. "You do have such soft skin, smooth, flawless..." His hand dropped down to stroke the side of her neck. "Easily broken with just a little bite. Ever thought of being a blood donor?" Now, yes. The idea of tasting her was quite...attractive. But he wouldn't do that, not without her permission.
Besides that, the idea of having her was just as attractive, if not more so. She was volatile- he could tell, he'd always known, and a volatile girl is a hard to handle girl. Read as: challenge. Would she be just another conquest to him, or more? Even he couldn't answer that at the moment.

Too far. Way to far.
She felt a fire start up in her stomach. How could he have the nerve to touch her. But what the hell was with him mimicking her voice. Only some bloodsucker could do that. What a Dumbass. Coming near me, he is gonna get it. She couldn't help but shiver to his touch, but she liked it. But a voice in her head told her to get him away.
So she had a plan.
She grabbed his wrist, and bent it up. Then she brought her right pal straight down on it. It didn't make a crunch sound, or a cracking sound, but she knew it would cause a little pain. Then she grabbed the back of his shirt, and pushed him to the ground, still holding his arm up.
"Are you stupid? Why the hell would you touch me!?" She made a tsk, tsk sound with her tongue, and then let go of him.
She didn't need to get in trouble. So she just hurried back and grabbed her journal, putting it into her bag, and looked at Landon.
She liked him. She really did. But of course that was like.. forbidden? She didn't know. Maybe her anger impulsed a crush? Yeah, thats what it was.
Just an anger crush? Whatever that was...

Now, the retaliation wasn't what Landon expected. The small pain in his wrist was nothing, really, but still, it caught him off guard, and he jerked his hand away. He was used to girls melting whenever he did anything like that. All of her bitchiness should've melted away, even if his words weren't quite right. Even if the words were a bit intrusive.
She was angry, and he hadn't expected that, at all. Landon pursed his lips, frustration in his eyes- both at her and himself. Firstly, his talent had come through when he'd mimicked her, and that pissed him off. He needed more control of his ability. On top of that, he found himself angry with himself for pissing her off. Why? It wasn't like it mattered, she was just a girl.
And frustration at her. She was so damn beautiful when that fire lit up her eyes. And she seemed immune to his charm thus far. He'd just have to try harder. She was different, to be certain. He rubbed his wrist, his scowl apparent as she gathered her things up. She was leaving. And he wasn't about to stop her. This wouldn't be the last time he saw her.
"Run, then, Rhyker. But you can't avoid me forever." His voice was low, a promise held in it. "You can't avoid this forever." This- the attraction between them that he knew even he couldn't avoid. There was tension between them, and a frustration they shared. Oh, they would see each other again soon.
