Abilities & Misc: Teresa was as a child already very agile and fast, and the teachers further developed that skill. She is however not much stronger than other hunters.
In addition she has a very fast learning curve. It's easier for her to imitate shown actions and then think for herself and understand the movement so she can expand and experiment with it. She can master difficult techniques easier like that.
Since she relies heavily on speed, followed by technique, her attacks are weaker than they could be. She still tries to make up for that lack, but she knows mixing speed with strength has its boundaries.
Personality: The clan is Teresa's first priority. It's her life. She's truly obsessed with it. The clan here, the clan there. How does the clan work? Constellation, training, plans? What's important? What's best for the clan? This also means that she highly regards their principles, like the value of a human life, or to only trust the clan, or to favor intellect over brute strength.
But it's not entirely true that only the clan exists in her life. While she was still a child some members rejected her, and did so through her whole life. Since she saw the clan as a shelter that hurt her. She got ambitious because she needed to prove herself, and she started to do things on her own. She needed to, because how could you stand out positively and make yourself accepted when you only do what everyone else does? This shaped her life and she started to think for herself and now she won't accept anything simply the way it is. She needs to understand it, needs prove, from various statements of people, from literal sources, or own knowledge. And her own needs start to come to the fore. But they will never take the upper hand as long as she can trust the clan and the clan accepts and stands by her.
Her ways as a leader are subtle and she doesn't like people knowing how she decides and what exactly she decides (unless needed of course). Other than that she is demanding a lot from the hunters which showed very strongly when she was a teacher. She claims complete dedication and won't except anything less. But she also considers the persons situation (i.e. physical condition) and makes an estimation on how far she can push and what she can expect. Once she decided on that she's going to push until it reaches her estimation. Of course there's also reconsideration, she's not a blind fool, she can adapt to situations, yet that is rarely the case.
Despite her loyally following the clan's beliefs she's currently wary of the council and doesn't trust the human part of the clan as much, which she finds dirties herself as an honorable member who should respect and be able to trust everyone in the clan, but she will go through with whatever she thinks is best. In contrast she completely trusts and relies on the hunters. It might seem weird that she's actually colder to them than anyone else, but it isn't. She expects others to follow her orders without hesitation and wants to achieve that in being the cold but honest and trustable light of guidance.
Others usually won't see her madness character that way, but instead she appears very calm and composed, like a person who knows what she wants and what she needs to do. And that's not so far off either. She doesn't tend to make hasty decisions and she would never storm head-on in a fight or situation without at least knowing the basics and having a plan ready.
She doesn't trust others easily, she didn't even have one single person in her life she trusted till now, and it will take A LOT to convince her to do so. She even only trusts the clan because she got told to do so when she was a child and therefore she made it her principle.
Physical Appearance: Her face is shaped by her strong mandible and her distinct cheekbones. Her stare dominates though, as it can be pretty intense, and her eyes are formed in an elegant way. They're grey, though sometimes they look a bit more blueish. Her hair is blonde-brownish and reaches over her shoulders. When she wears her hair pinned up the emphasis lies on her strong neck and her face seems to soften a bit.
Since she became teacher she started to care about her looks. Sure, she had combed and pinned up her hair before, but she felt she needed to make an impression at that time, and dressed in what "normal people" would wear. She tried out a bit, but now she's settled on a blouse, trousers, and maybe a blazer. At times she wears a dress and rarely she wears high heels. She doesn't like and isn't used to them as much and people notice. Also Teresa is taller than most women and since she has a muscular body from training she can make quite an impression.
Other than that she seems like a normal woman, with that cold stare and upright posture however she will always be somewhat different. But in the end only when she intends to she can be scary and threatening.
History: (Note: The ~part~ is what she got told, it doesn't have to be true) Teresa doesn't remember her past as she was very young when the clan took her in, but what she got told was this: ~~~~~~ She was born to an average hunter. The identity of her mother is unknown. Her father left the clan before Teresa's existence was known. But he not only abandoned the clan, he turned against it. He killed two hunters and disrupted plans that he still got to know. When they caught him they found out that his reason was that he fell in love with a vampire. But other than him they also found Teresa. They soon realized her talent and therefore they took her in. ~~~~~~
In training she soon proved to be able in fighting. As a result she got handed to various teachers and skilled hunters to improve her talent and she got taught various skills and abilites.
Still it wasn't all that easy. Despite being from bloodline she was still the child of the traitor and her ability made people wary. She wasn't easily accepted and despite being an able fighter there was protest when she was marked at the age of 18. In fact any other hunter with her skill would have been marked earlier, but even the leader held back her marking.
Despite that she was loyal to the clan, partly because some people training and spending time with her were friendly to her and not as wary.
As a hunter she proved trustworthy through various actions. First, of course, all the things she didn't do. No one could truly blame her for something. And then she stood out because of 1. her ability, and 2. "extraordinary efforts" [[didn't find a better word]]. Hunters close to/around her noticed that she worked and trained even late at night, revised plans trying to understand them, and repeated the daily training.
The critcism pushed her that far. She was already loyal to the clan, and every critique and denial made her more determined, made her try harder, be better, be faster, be stronger. But she was still young and it pushed her to her limits. She went that far until she collapsed in a fight which resulted in a teammate dying. Of course that was when everyone skeptical of her stood up to loudly express his opinion.
As a result Teresa was taken out of actively hunting and instead became a teacher at the young age of 21, only to not waste her ability.
She was in the main base as a teacher for 3 years. Criticism cooled down during that time as she didn't stand out anymore.
In the first weeks there she blamed herself, told herelf she wasn't useful, that she could as well throw everything away. She felt she was a disgrace for the clan. But she recovered soon, telling herself that she can make it up, that she can erase not only her sin, but also her father's sin.
Thus she became even more determined than before. But she didn't train herself to exhaustion now. Instead she got more active in politics.
Since she was in the main base as a teacher she had access to a huge supply of books and she could also honor herself with a certain authority. That way it wasn't that unusual to gather information and talk to high ranked people. She learned a lot about the clan's history and how exactly the clan worked and why it worked that way.
The thought of being able to make up her fault excited her and it affected her teaching. While she demanded more effort from her disciples she also seemed more understandable, gave them a break when they needed it, and somehow was able to excite them more easily for the clan's history and tactical plans, as she had a lot of knowledge about it now. It got her some attention again, but more admiration and respect rather than resentment.
The motivation of making up her mistake even drove her that far as to apply as a leader at the age of 24. She passed the required tests with flying colours. The only thing that kept her from being leader was the council. They delayed the decision a few days which was an insult. Teresa was extremely worried. To still get absolution the position, she spoke in front of the council to assure her loyalty and then even swore an oath to "never abandon the ways of the clan and always do what's best for the clan". The speech must have convinced them because Teresa became leader soon after.
And now all was supposed to be well. But it wasn't. When she was 27 an old council member who was dying ordered her to his deathbed and told her that there was more to her past and that her true name was "Cynthia".
Of course Teresa was shocked, she immediately left the room and lived in denial the next days. When she thought about it, and wanted to find out more it was too late. She didn't dare talk to others. What if they knew and also had kept it from her? It wasn't easy to trust the council now, and she dug deeper in history and files about her past and about the council's past. What happened truly in her past, how long does the council exist already, which power do they have and how far did it spread.
She didn't find out much and she didn't trust anyone enough to ask. But she's calmed down over the months telling herself that it was a lie, or that it didn't happen. It doesn't affect her much today because of that, unless of course she finds new tracks and traces.
When the peace request emerged it was rather difficult for her to decide what to do. All her life she'd been told how evil vampires are and she had willingly trained herself to kill them. And now she should live in peace with them? But she'd several reasons to go there herself and take hunters and the seer with her.
It's true that part her reason to go there was to find out more about her past, about her father's "sin" and such, and then of course she wanted to test the council. How would they work while she was away? Another part was that the council insisted that the seer should be sent there to eventually improve his powers. And while Teresa found herself agreeing with them (a bit) she knew how important protection was. But biggest part is much simpler: she needs to see and decide for herself if vampires are to be trusted and if she can dare agree to that.
