yea, yea... we know your better than us...

lol! No i'm not!

I still owe you and EarlyDawn more info/grapics on the Emplacements. That will be my next focus after Hurricane Frances passes. That is, once they get power back up.

Hurrah! biggrin.gif

Good luck with the storm. Try to avoid too much damage, I'd hate to have to send extra nanogel to fix everything. wink.gif

Looks like we dodged Ivan. Unfortunately it's going to slam into other states. I feel sorry for them. At least they're not getting hit with two in a row.

No idea. Spork did say he passed on the updated map to everyone. To be honest, I was startled they implimented my rotating planets idea so quickly. smile.gif Who knows what they'll decide to do this time.

Just so I can reply everywhere...

Ive seen a few more threads on the OF about the map, both asking for a hexagon based layout. One was because the poster felt, and I guess showed, that the TR/VS TR/NC secondary continents were fought over more often. The other was for understanding, and his graphic helped a lot to figure out how the continent links were layed out.

It's a little difficult to tell but I actually did base the radial version of the map on the hexagon layout, originally illustrated by Obiwan. Unfortunately his imagehosting is outta commission, but Satanis also hit upon the idea and his graphic is still up, although I saw it after I made the graphic.

I had to warp the hexagon because of the perspective involved with the map and then shift the planets a little to make room for the displayed text beneath each one.

Well, since the devs are about to rework it, I think it's time we revived this one, Hayoo.

One of the things that need to be addressed is clarity of reading the map. Here is one suggestion on making the interstella view clearer, just indicate exactly which WG tiy will go from the initial continent.

http://s3.invisionfree.com/Planetside_Idea...post&id=6448547

In this example, you can clearly see that all of the highlighted conts have a yellow WG. Now, even though it's clearly shown in the stella view that Ceryshen is connected to Amerish from this WG colour, for people like me, it's not that "easy" to understand, mainly because I primarily work from those planetary window, which is why I've added the lines on the planetary windows, just to clearly show which WG will be your destination.

Other things to aid clarity would include perminent names to all the WGs, and I don't just mean "Searhus". The continental WGs should be tagged up in the same way that Cavern Geowarps are, name of the destination plus the location of the WG. All that's needed to show what a BWG is would be a new icon.

Gah, sorry I missed this post, Straws.

Anyway, I agree. Nice changes, especially the permenant names on the gates. This would be even more useful now that we have truly hard linked broadcast gates again.
