Blackmist

In this world, a world of bloodshed and sorcery; of betrayal, conquest, and the occasional hero, there is a force of nature that governs all living things. Little is known about it, but most anyone who can speak calls it "Blackmist". Anything that lives here is coloured a pitch black. The trees, the birds, the grass, the people. Anything that is formed of Blackmist must also return to it whence it dies, so people do not die so much as they evaporate into black smoke. "Disappear", as it were. They re-join with the Blackmist and become small shards of the dark (but not necessarily evil) energy.

It has been almost half a decade since the known World was finally spared a great turmoil. The tyrannical Emperor Vandheer Lorde sought to censor public opinion by executing those who spoke out against him. Eventually, a rebellion broke out, and Vandheer was temporarily defeated by the Rebellion's leader, Armed With Wings, who was thought killed five years previous. Vandheer Lorde escaped and met up with his old protégés Lady Eivana and Lord Hawkin, who had unsuccessfully attempted to overthrow him before. He granted them amnesty if they would fight with him against Armed With Wings, and help him collect the Four Swords of Eden. Fearing that Armed With Wings might evade death yet again, Vandheer meant to use the swords to utterly destroy his enemy rather than simply kill him.

He began his travels, battling many rebellion soldiers along the way and eventually collected three of the swords. But before the final sword of Eden could be found, Lord Hawkin betrayed Vandheer, wounding Eivana and fleeing the area. Vandheer hunted him down and killed him. Before Hawkin died, he revealed that it was Armed With Wings himself who possessed the final sword, and so Vandheer travelled to his usurped palace where he fought Armed With Wings a second time - and fell. The details of Armed With Wings' victory are uncertain. Some believe Armed With Wings stole the swords from Vandheer and used them to destroy him, others say he was simply a better fighter. Still more insist that Vandheer is still alive, having been trapped in a magical prison for all eternity by his enemy, or even that Vandheer won the battle, striking down Armed With Wings with the swords and using foul magics to disguise himself as the rebel leader.

In any event, Armed With Wings is the kingdom's official leader and the swords of Eden have since been hidden away, being dubbed too dangerous to use. This is unfortunate, as it seems that a new threat is lurking a short distance away.

Several border villages have reportedly all gone missing. Missing persons is often an ill-omen in this world, as few people are ever found dead - there is never a body to find. But even more alarming is that the disappearances coincide with the advent of the Red Moon.

Roughly every ten years, the Moon eclipses and turns a deep blood red. This has a strange effect on Blackmist, causing all living things tied to it to gain supernatural and superhuman abilities as long as the Red Moon lasts, which is usually a few days and occasionally longer. Astronomers expect this Red Moon to be particularly long; one week. The Red Moon is often heralded by power struggles and epic battles, as evidenced by Hawkin and Eivana's attempted usurping of Vandheer Lorde ten years ago during the previous Red Moon.

In a few days, the Red Moon will rise, and with it unfathomable creatures and powerful beings. Will you be prepared?

In Armed With Wings it's Hawken, and in Red Moon it's Hawkin. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE.
