The Fallout series (Being an RPG itself) could be a good place to go with an RPG and there is a ton of information, conflict and back story to it. I have no clue what Secret World is, but if its like NEN, thats cool. (By the way, I invented the term Never Ending Night when talking to James, so technically he doesn't even own the name )

The only similarity to NEN is that both take the idea that certain myths are real and roleplay in the real world. Basically the Secret World is an upcoming MMORPG set in the real world, with no classes and no levels, just pure awesome. Certain myths are real, others are not, but hidden in the darkest corners and the least visited buildings are things not wholly of nature. To combat this growing threat, which will culminate to a potentially devastating event on December 12, 2012, certain people have learned the art of magic and combat. Nevertheless, secrecy is paramount, and not all threats are threats to be solved by fire and steel... Basically it's about to be the most badass MMORPG ever made.

Sounds epic, I may be in but I don't want to join too many more RPs.

Secret World, yes. All the other stuff, negatory. Let's FINISH Planar Chaos before we decide to make a sequal.

Suggestions:
- Transformers; Never heard of this as an RP before, got me thinking after playing the game/seeing movie. - Zoids; Transformers reminded me of another robotic based battle, Zoids where semi-intelligent animal like machines are used in conflict.
That's all for the moment.

I've been getting an urge to do a Wheel of Time RP, made worse by me re-reading the books, but I'm getting the impression that no one here is familiar with the series, and more and more I'm thinking that can be a good thing. It'll give me a chance to not only RP as per my itch, but introduce you guys to the source material, and hopefully get you interested in it as well, and without spoiling any of the plot. Speaking of plot, I have an idea for one, and although it will start off roughly similar to the books, and may contain certain plot elements from them, it will largely be my own plot. I'll be able to guide you guys through the world without you needing to know much about it, because your characters will be from a small town and not know much of it themselves, and any errors you make I can correct easily. I went ahead and wrote up a Need to Know post:
| QUOTE | The Two Rivers is a small area of smaller farming communities and villages. It gets it’s name from the Taren river, to the north, and the White River, to the south, which effectively bar travel in either direction, save for traveling through Taren Ferry. To the west lie a formidable range of mountains, known as the Mountains of Mist. No one has traveled the mountains in centuries, and local villagers consider it bad luck to enter the mountains. East lies an area of swamps, called the Waterwood, which makes traveling in that direction perilous at the best of times.
These factors combine to make the Two Rivers about as far from the rest of the world as it’s possible to get, and still be near other people. The small villages enjoy a healthy trade of mostly tabbac and wool with each other, but beyond the occasional peddler, they receive little news of the outside, and enjoy it that way.
Recently, however, things have been hard in the Two Rivers. A particularly harsh winter has dragged on well into spring, stretching out larders as farmers are left unable to plant more crops. Wolf and bear attacks are plentiful, tearing into farmer’s herds, and the occasional unwary traveler. Bad luck seems to run everywhere, these days, and this is nowhere more apparent that in Emond’s Field. As the villagers attempt to prepare for Winternight, the day that marks the end of winter, and Bel Tine, a festival that comes the next day, to celebrate the coming of spring, everything seems to be going haywire. Feuds break out, that have lain sleeping for decades. Oftentimes, it leads to fights in the streets. The village Wisdom finds herself overwhelmed by the amount of accidental injuries. All this comes with news of dark things in the outside world, rumours of war and evil.
Such things have never plagued the Two Rivers, though, and its people are known for their stubborn hardiness. Despite the dark mood, or maybe in spite of it, this Bel Tine is shaping up to be a most interesting afair. The people are looking forward to some much needed celebration to take their minds off their hardships, and Bel Tine is sure to provide something unexpected.
Things a Two Rivers villager should know: -The Dark One, also known as the Father of Lies, and many other names besides, is the heart of all evil, and should never be named, as doing so gives him power over you. He is bound in Shayol Ghul, in the heart of the Blight, which is a corrupted area under his control, far to the north. His true name is Shai’tan, but saying it aloud will bring ruin upon yourself. -The Forsaken are the Dark One’s thirteen loyal servants, Aes Sedai of ancient times who served the Dark One during the Age of Legends and the war that followed, the details of which are lost to time. Tales of the Forsaken are used to scare children as bedtime stories, and it is not truly believed that they exist. A common saying goes ‘The Dark One and all of the Forsaken are sealed in Shayol Ghul, sealed away by the Creator at the moment of Creation.’ -The Creator is supposedly a being who created the Wheel of Time, which is supposed to be a great loom that weaves the Great Pattern, using the lives of people as threads. It is believed to encompass all worlds and realities into a Pattern of the Ages. A common saying goes ‘The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills.’ -Darkfriends are humans that serve the Dark One, but the term can be extended to anyone believed to be evil, and not necessarily in line with the Father of Lies. -Trollocs are servants of the Dark One, monstrous creatures with shaggy fur and heads like rams. They are considered mythical creatures. -Fades are also servants of the Dark One, more intelligent and fearsome than Trollocs. -Common swears/insults/exclamations usually consist of things like ‘Bloody idiot’ ‘Blood and ashes’, and the like. Another common exclamation would be to use the word Light. “Light help us!” “Light burn you!” -Aes Sedai are commonly feared and considered Darkfriends or witches, hailing from the island city of Tar Valon to the east. If they’re not openly hated by most, and for the most part well respected (Although an Aes Sedai hasn’t been seen in the Two Rivers for probably a few centuries), they’re still generally disliked, and definitely not trusted. A common saying goes “An Aes Sedai never lies, but the truth she speaks may not be the truth you think you hear.” No one knows what Aes Sedai do for sure, besides gentle men who can channel the One Power. -Gentling is the practice of cutting a man off from the One Power, so he cannot channel. It's called stilling for women, and burning out if done accidentally. -Aes Sedai are usually accompanied by Warders, powerful swordsmen and bodyguards. -The One Power is a mystical power source that drives the Wheel of Time, that Aes Sedai can channel to use like magic. Men who try to channel it go mad. -Male channelers are feared and hated openly, although one has never been seen in the village. They’re hated because they are destined to go mad, and because they caused the Breaking of the World.
Facts about the Two Rivers, from the knowledge of a villager: -Two Rivers people are usually stubborn. They have to be, when their primary crop is rocks. -Villages are led by a Village Council, which is led by the Mayor. The Women’s Circle, which is led by the Wisdom, often brings the concerns of the village to the attention of the Village Council (And often bullies them into acting) -The Wisdom is, as the name implies, usually a wise woman, with a knowledge of herbs and healing, and listening to the wind to predict the weather. -Most villages usually hold competitions for archery and quarterstaves. Other than that, your character will have little if any combat knowledge.
Facts about the world, as know by a Two Rivers villager: -If you desperately want to know about the settings, see the articles listed HERE. You don’t need to read them all, and you likely wouldn’t know it all either. I will give you a primer on what you know or don't know about the locations we're to visit. Two Rivers only likely knows the names, and general locations of the places. They have a few old maps, and month’s old news brought in by peddlers. Also, take the information in that article with a grain of salt. Events in the books won’t happen here.
((If you need further information, please see THIS wiki, or ask me. Be careful to keep your characters knowledge in line with their role as a villager, and not to confuse canon events with what’s happening in this RP. If you have a question, ask me, or better yet, ask ICly, if it would make sense.)) |

I went ahead and made this template, because Cheez wanted to get a head start.
| QUOTE | Name: Go ahead, guess. Age: To the second, please. Gender: Because names aren’t always clear. Description: What do you look like? Usually wear? Identifying features? Profession: What do you do, or are being trained to do? Notable Items: Got anything interesting? Heirloom, perhaps? Notable Skills: Learn anything special, like how to fight? Connection to the Source: Is your character a spark, able to channel naturally, without training? Is your character capable of eventually learning to channel? Or do you have no ability to use the One Power at all? NOTE: Women with the spark usually first manifest their ability anywhere from 16 to 18 years of age, sometimes as late as 20. Men with the spark can come later, from 20 to 25, approximately. Men or women who merely have the ability to learn to channel may go their entire lives without knowing if they can channel or not. Driving Goal: What is it your character wants most in life? Biography: Doesn’t have to be big, a brief overview of the defining moments in your character's life.
