(OFFLINE) Board Message

Hi, everyone! This incarnation of Pern:Broken was closed 2 years ago, and due to the harassment of the internet community as a product of reopening on another forum in the last few weeks, the administrators have decided to lock these boards in order to protect the amazing community we fostered here when Broken was first created.

While we have been asked to reopen multiple times, time was never on our side, and until recently, Broken remained closed. When we reopened, and began advertising, suddenly we were inundated with accusations of being rape apologizers, sexists, and supporting pedophilia based on the site's rules and descriptions. Despite efforts to remedy the problem, a select few that had joined our new boards seemed content to hurl accusations and misinformation, rather than work towards a constructive dialogue about how Broken could change to meet the needs of our newest community.

All of this culminated in a rather sickening display of harassment towards those that were familiar with both the administrator's intentions and the roleplay that had existed on these boards by a large community neither familiar with our past, nor how we handled the delicate issues that would be realistically faced in the world we had created. I believe I speak for all of us that enjoyed our time here in Broken when I say that how we have been portrayed, both as a community and as individuals that handled the intentionally troubling subject matter of Broken with such tact and support, is disgusting.

It will not be tolerated.

We will not be censored.

I will not allow players that made Broken so incredible for us and each other to be harassed, if it is within my power to stop it.

It is with a heavy heart I've locked these boards to anyone without prior membership here, and deleted all accounts that were not made within the given time frame of Broken's activity. All the love that was shown here, for characters and for one another, deserves to be protected, rather than judged and treated as something that was dirty and treated as simply a "fetish site", rather than the representation of the spirit of those that wished to show how, even in fiction, light could shine in the face of subjugation, impossible odds, and the cost of overthrowing tyranny.

But Broken is not finished. Will not be finished, as long as there are those that support and understand our mission in Broken's creation. I wish, with all my heart, these boards that have stayed open and inspired requests to keep us open could continue to stay open, so that passer-bys would keep having a chance to read and admire the hard work that went into each plot step, each hatchling, and each character that made this a place we continue to be passionate about. But the idiocy of a few has made it a threat to the people we called friends in the heights of Broken's activity.

Broken is not finished. It will be reopening in an undisclosed location for the time being, to ensure both our member's protection from harassment, and the content that was created before is not tampered with. For now, we invite those who are former members that would like to rejoin or who are looking for access to their former posts and profiles to contact us at pernbroken@gmail.com.

A heartfelt thanks is owed to the members and composers of emails sent in support of Broken, as well as those that were a part of the original incarnation for confirming that we indeed do have a place in your hearts and minds.
