UPDATED 10/09/08 - Minor stability fixes, small additions, potential crash saving ped 4 fixed
UPDATED 04/16/08 - Added player and ped (1-6) object attachments, ped types, minor fixes
UPDATED 04/12/08 - Added teleporter locations, St. Mark's Bistro enterable, Liberty City accessible, police interiors available.
UPDATED 03/04/08 - Saves fixed again, greenscreen mod included, little fixes and additions.
UPDATED 01/06/08 - Fixed a few minor bugs, G + J for 12 group now working, player in vehicle now saves to file.
UPDATED 01/05/08 - Full I/O on peds in cars, added ability to spawn and move/replace up to 36 objects as found in the games' map files.

THE FOLLOWING EXES ARE CONFIRMED WORKING WITH THIS MOD:

US: HOODLUM v1.0 ENGLISH
EUR: HOODLUM v1.0 MULTI
EUR: HOODLUM v1.1 FIXED/PATCHED

The DEVIANCE v1.0 exe does NOT work.

D O W N L O A D

TO INSTALL: Extract all files to your GTA San Andreas directory. The folder SanAnStudios should also be in this directory, but leave the files inside and the saves where they are. See the Greenscreen README for details and installation instructions on that mod.

I need testers. If you've used San An Studios, please try this out. No README included, but there is an updated gamekeys. New stuff includes:

Complete engine rewrite; thanks to JGS for his new hook
Custom Animation Keys (see below)
Animation Timeline (see below)
Four cars now available (only 1 and 2 follow so far)
Trailers now available and attach to cab (not added to save position routine yet, so be careful if saving an attached trailer - fixed)
Minutes can now be set during time set/freeze
Widescreen mode added; able to access menu
Lights/Engine on/off for cars
Driveby fixed for peds 1-6; driveby on self ped (ex: LF SHIFT + F7) will attack player. Ped (or player) can be on foot or in vehicle

TO INSTALL
Extract your files, and place San An Studios 4.exe and the SanAnStudios folder into the ROOT of your GTA SA installation.

Look combined with kill engine; to look at actor, press DELETE + K (set by default) then MODIFIER + 1-9. To attack actor, press INSERT + K, then MODIFIER + 1-9.

CUSTOM ANIMATION KEYS
Keys Q-P (except T) and G-L are the animation keys. To change the assigned animation, ALT-TAB out of the game, open "animations.txt" and replace one of the lines; all the lines go in order. Use SAAnim.txt to see what animations to use. Ignore the numbers for now; but the second (after the 4.0) is the loop flag, and the last number is the time the animation will play in MS. You can loop this by using -1 instead.

Make changes, save the animations.txt file, the go back to the game and press A + R to reload the list. Now your animations have changed. Do not add new animations to this list; there must always and only be a list of 14 animations.

TIMELINE
This is a very crude, but very useful function. Press a MODIFIER + T to see the dance routine that is loaded by default. If you tap T, the next animation will play until the end of the file. To change the timeline, open timeline.txt and use SAAnims.txt to decide which animations to use. Save the timeline.txt file and go back to the game. Press R + T to reload the timeline; the timeline will now play the new animations.

PLEASE test this (make sure to check out SAGAMEKEYS.txt to see all the key changes; there are a few) and if you have any issues, please report here. You MUST have GTA San Andreas v1.0 for PC for this to work.

I also need some screenshots for our custom loading screen (thanks to Sacky for that code!), so if you take some good screens and post them here, I'll add the best one's to the archive on final release.

BIG GROUP KEYS
INSERT + G = Starts 12 group; same as ped creation
DELETE + G = Deletes all 12; must confirm
G + U = Insert new actor (swaps out any actor for new
one; use 1-9 or I, O, or P to choose which one to swap)
G + S = Save group position
G + R = Restore group position

There are a bunch of other commands for the 12 group; see SAGAMEKEYS. G+ J is supposed to be Angry group (like the Riot mission from VC), but it's not working for some reason.

Hey guys, if you can, try to test this with different save games. Like try it out near the beginning of the game, maybe around San Fiero, and after the missions are finished. This will help me find any issues related to global variables.

Hey Ceedj!

At first glance, it's much quicker than 3.3C (when scrolling the peds and applying actions). I also seem to have trouble loading different animations. I changed lines in animkeys.txt (replacing the first one with SWT_WLLSHOOT_IN_L), back to the game, pressed A+R (pressing SHIFT+A+R, like you said in SAGAMEKEYS.TXT, didn't work), then message appeared "RELOADING ANIMATION", then pushed SHIFT+Q, and only thing that changed was player's weapon, when I changed second line, then actor didn't do nothing, even player didn't change the weapon.
So, how do I load_animation opcode?smile.gif I assume it's the key to applying different animations.

P.S. how the hell I can load the whole area (part of the city if not whole city) into memory? It's fcking dissapointing when I move around with camera and houses nearby disappear. I have all the GFX options maxed out (also drawing distance), so that should be a no problem...

P.P.S. changing weather with PGUP/PGDOWN is marvellous! But how can I change the time (ex SHIFT-9)?

Mankiboi - presumably you're using camhack, so do you have your FOV pushed way out or something? I was led to believe there was no fix for that specific problem.... If there is, tell me!

Also, what version of the game are you using? 1.0 or 2.0 hacked?

When changing animations, you have to change BOTH text entries.

GYM_TREAD_SPRINT GYMNASIUM 4.0 0 0 0 0 5000

The first is the animation name. The second is the file. From the list in SAAnims, the animation you want, SWT_WLLSHOOT_IN_L, is in the SWAT file. So change your line to this:

SWT_WLLSHOOT_IN_L SWAT 4.0 0 0 0 0 5000.

I will make this all clearer in the updated READ ME.

Yes, it should just be A+R; will move that to the general keys section. Same with the timeline reload; it's just T + R, no modifier needed.

Time was changed to INSERT/DELETE P. Forgot it in the SAGAMEKEYS file.

Ok, completed my list of tests.


Might sound blatantly obvious but here's what I got: SAS4 doesn't work with the hacked version. I know, obvious, you said that already, but the fact is, 3.3c worked with the hacked version, even when it wasn't supposed to.


So... Yeah. I'm pretty sure I tried everything. Don't let that stop others testing the hacked version, though, cause it'd be a shame if I missed something. Seeing as most people run V2 these days, it'd be neat if we could find a way to make it 'fit'.

Try removing pfscs.txd from the SanAnStudios folder and see if it runs. If the hook doesn't find that file, it skips over that memory hack, which may or may not solve your problem.

Can you elaborate on "doesn't work"? The game doesn't load, the hook doesn't load, no text?

'Does't work', as in, hook fails to load game. Interestingly, it computes as an 'error' and requests to submit an error report, as per usual.

Changing, rearraging, removing files, etc, seems to make no difference. However, the error is calculated quicker when pfscs.txd is not present. I don't quite know what to make of that one little discrepancey.


EDIT: for the record, I am running WinXP SP2, 2GB RAM, Radeon graphics.

You say 3.3C loads? Have you tried it recently? Is 4.0 in the GTASA folder? Have any other mods/hacks installed?

Can't really figure out why it wouldn't work, as the new hook was built (mostly) on the frame of the old one...

EDIT: If you're getting an error as soon as you Double Click San An Studios4.exe, try redownloading the archive; it might be corrupt. The only thing that would cause a startup error is a change in your OS (.NET was downgraded, or something similar) or you're not using a v1 exe (US or EU; no others work).

Well yes, GTA V2 exe. I thought I said that.

To recap: SAS 3.3c works fine with a hacked V2 exe (downgraded and/or modded). I ran it this morning and everything works fine, both in-game and out. But SAS 4.0 fails to load the game entirely, I just can't get it to open.

I'll re-download the archive and test it again, just to make sure.

Still nothing. The game disc itself loads, as in, attempts to load, but the game and the hook itself fails to begin operating.

Have you tried starting the game, ALT-TAB out then start the hook?
