Title: Bug Report
GreenDay - August 7, 2005 07:20 AM (GMT)
Hey guys, I've got a list of most of the XP bugs that are going around.. but if you see something that hasnt already been mentioned - or isnt in an update that I release, please post your findings here. It will just make it alot easier to track. In your post if you could answer the questions about the bug/error below that would be excellent:
Runtime Error Reports:- Name/description of runtime error?
- Where do you encounter this error?
- What OS (operating system) are you running?
General Bug Reports:- Does the game crash entirely?
- Where do you encounter this error?
- What week are you on, and have you previously saved?
- What OS (operating system) are you running?
Anything else just post the problem as well.. but if you can fill these out that'd help a lot.
Cheers!

m_ousley - August 20, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
Hey Green are you still working on those bugs. I would really love to play this and give it a review.
GreenDay - August 20, 2005 12:49 PM (GMT)
Yep sure am.. But.. I must admit I'm running XP now and I havent come across any errors so far.. so i think its just a matter of missing files perhaps? This is the same as Rob, he hasnt encountered any errors - and I believe this to be because we have the VB files installed.. Sooo! Just wondering, does everyone have Service Pack 2 installed on their computers?
And yep, btw - the new version will be coming soon.. Theres just a bit more work that needs to be done on fixing a few problems.
m_ousley - August 20, 2005 02:40 PM (GMT)
Im running 98 Se, so I don't need the SP2. I can give you a detailed likst of when it accured, or maybe email you my game files if that would help.
GreenDay - August 20, 2005 03:15 PM (GMT)
Yeah sure.. that might help also.. But I think this is to do with missing files - because i built the game on 98, and its almost as clean as a whistle on that OS.. So if your experiencing problems running, I'm guessing its just missing files. But yeah that would help (also where are you experiencing crashes?)
m_ousley - August 20, 2005 03:29 PM (GMT)
Heres the run down.
When the game closes:
When I try to repay debts or try and go to the bank. Also with any mini games its closes. I havent had an error messages. It just closes.
Springbok - August 26, 2005 10:55 AM (GMT)
Im getting the gun bug everytime i try to play, no matter what week im on or how much money i have. Im running on XP with SP2 far as i know. I dont get any error messages or anything like that.
GreenDay - August 26, 2005 12:00 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the reports guys! I have just finished the latest version which includes a heap of new files for you guys - and will hopefully fix a lot of the problems.. Also alot of new code has been added and taken away, so it will hopefully make the game a little more enjoyable as well.
I hope to post the new version sometime within the next 4 hours (hopefully!).. I would do it now, but I havent got the password for the Osiris server, and Rob will be sending it to me when he gets the email i sent him. I apologize for the inconvience of this - but hopefully this update will fix alot of your problems XP users :)
Cheers!!
Springbok - August 26, 2005 12:20 PM (GMT)
Hope so. Im quite enjoying it a at the moment. Will be better once i can play properly.

GreenDay - August 29, 2005 02:48 AM (GMT)
Excellent, no problem mate.. I'm still actually feeling kinda stupid for forgetting a few people out of the credits. But no matter! Everyone's in now :D lol.. Cheers!
Sergei Yosef Kalishnikov - August 31, 2005 10:15 AM (GMT)
I just got the game yesterday and I'm pretty impressed. However, there are still bugs that need to be dealt with:
1. When you enter the Debt Collector, the game terminates.
2. Item prices are changed when you load your saved game.
3. When you enter the City Bank, the game terminates.
4. When you load the game, even if you choose higher resolution - 1027x768, etc., the game uses the resolution of 800x600.
5. When you complete the first mission and save, as long as you don't complete the next mission, when you load it, the game resets mission 1, thus, it becomes playable giving you another 250K.
6. There are no sheds bigger than 1200 units, yet there is still an option to buy. Buy what? Air?
7. When you ask for money in the centerlink, the game terminates.

Yeah, not working well for me either. Same problems as others have stated. Same stuff as Sergei, so I don't have to try and to remember all the stuff, and I'm pretty sure those are the only problems I have ran into.
Windows XP, no service packs (and its not worth the long arse download just to make the game work)

Well I do recommend you install these Service Packs because it wont just be my game that wont work.. a lot of programs require these service packs too, and if you dont have them they may very well be the cause for many of your problems. Anyway its up to you.. your loss :)
spike_dave - September 5, 2005 12:46 PM (GMT)
ive got the game on win 98 and it crashes when i try iand buy a weapon so i can do that mission when u have 2 kill the guy cuz i aint got a weapon 2 it
ntunxun - September 25, 2005 12:14 PM (GMT)
Hello there. Long time lurker first time poster.
Just dl'ed the game today.
Few glitches:
Some of the prices when you eitheer buy or sell is screwed up. For example buying Sony widescreen for 942 then the next week the price on the menu is higher but when you try to sell it gives you 1$ profit on each. So that's 66 bought for 62172 and 66 sold for 66.
Game sometimes crashes with no message no nothing. Happens shortly after making first personal goal, when trying to buy items. Also crashes when invited to do a heist and you decline.
When i load up the game i saved, it states that i don't have enough money to buy things. Even though the menu says plenty. Then i try to finish the week and boom all money gone??
Running xp, have sp2
My 2 cents
Have fun
Jens

I am running win98 and the new version crashes / closing down whenever I try to buy weapons, save money, pay a debt. All other times it seems fine. The old version never gave me this trouble. Any ideas or hints or fixes would be a great help, that is unless there is a bug fix on the way.
GreenDay - October 13, 2005 02:52 AM (GMT)
Ahhhhhhh.. Dammit :(.. Umm.. That was supposed to be the bug fix, but it looks like I went backwards with the 98 version this time <_< Hmm.. Okay no problem I'll look into it more dude, thanks for the report :)
Btw, any XP users out there experiencing any more bugs? The new version was supposed to fix all (v1.0.2 available from osirisgames.com). Cheers!
ntunxun - October 13, 2005 11:13 PM (GMT)
Hey there.
Even worse for me now :( : The prices for the expensive items are still screwed up. Starting with the things above 1k i think. It's a dollar a piece when you buy or sell.
When trying to enter the mall i get Run-time error "13" type mismatch.
Didn't get very far with this version
Thanks
roblowe - October 15, 2005 09:55 PM (GMT)
sorry, same is happening with me Win XP Pro SP2 seems slightly stabler but i do get runtime 13 crashes and the game closes when i go to debt collector and a few other random places i cant remember. Its a decent game overall but i think it would rule if there were no bugs.
oh yeah, someone in previous reply said that they couldnt be bothered with SP2 download, it only takes 15 minutes you idiot, and its safer so get it and dont be a twat. SP2 means that you get the advanced firewall features (i know this has nothing to do with thread so ill stop talking)
Leon - November 13, 2005 05:59 AM (GMT)
new to Osiris games, love them all... except insomnia... I'm addicted, but unfortunately, I have yet to get through the first 5 weeks. The bugs people have mentioned are affecting me as well
System:
Win XP PRO CORPORATE LISCENSE SP2
AMD 3200+ running OC to 3400
ASUS Main Board w/ Realtek onboard audio
ATI All-In-Wonder 9600XT
Have tried all compatibility modes, and nothing is fixing this
GreenDay - November 13, 2005 07:16 AM (GMT)
Ok.. it seems Im not developing any pattern here so I'm gonna undo what I did before, so at least many of the XP bugs that were supposed to have been fixed, but ended up being worst will just go back to the original setup. I'm still working on this game.. and I apologize for the amount of bugs - but understand that its hard to get them all when soo many people have different machines and hardware.. its like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes.. and im just making any progress with the XP (even though it works on mine fine).
Leon - November 14, 2005 02:20 AM (GMT)
Just out of curiosity, what type of code structure are you using for the mall... cause the error 'mismatch' if I recall right, is usally a database error caused by the program trying to access a database table that doesn't exist... of course, if your not using any form of generic database, then I've got to start going to class more often :P
This is just a feeble attempt at a possible direction to look to find the problem from a slightly experienced computer software major
GreenDay - November 14, 2005 04:20 AM (GMT)
lol I'm not sure why that would appear cause no I dont use database tabels in Night Shift.. the only thing I can think of is the mouse-over code I've got going for this game - where when you run your mouse over one of the stores they glow. I'll look into this as well before the next release..
It's just a shame you can't play it now - but hopefully the new version will be out by the end of the week. And this time - hopefully bug free (for most of the game anyway! :( - or at least so that you can play it!!). Cheers!
Leon - November 21, 2005 02:17 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the mouse over is working fine on mine, its not until I actually enter a shop that it goes crazy... And of course, without entering a shop, I can't get a weapon, and without a weapon... you get the idea
GreenDay - November 21, 2005 11:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah.. ah well it's ok now - I've uploaded v1.0.3, you can download it from the site (Downloads>Insomnia).. I've gotten rid of all of the code I re-wrote to try and get it to work better on the XP (which ended up making things worse).. so hopefully things will be working a little more smother for you.
Thanks!

I heard from my mom that night shift in a hospital was kinda scary, but I wonder if US is better. Back then when she was an intern long time ago in another country. She said it's kinda lonely and helpless for night shift. There were only a registered nurse and her and one time they were moving a dead person and the body fell onto the floor and they have to move the person back all by themselves.
