I am very pleased to announce Carpe Noctem's annual Golden Bat Painting Competition, sponsored by Mantic Games.

As usual we have a wealth of prizes, totalling over £200.00 in value! Even better this year the competition has grown to include the following:

-Non VC Categories, so any models including WH40K can be entered.
-Both Painting and Converting/Sculpting categories.
-Tier system to give everyone a fair chance
-New Awards, to recognise things other than painting, such as excellent basing, or realistic models.

Advertising on other sites may be all well and good but I average less than 20 posts per year so unless I spam your site a bunch in the next 2 weeks I, and many others, will not get to the 30 posts required. This isn't even considering whatever 'zombie points' are...

Unless you create another category, 'Submissions from our Competitors' or something along those lines, many people would not even think about entering. This extra category would not have your restrictions for entering and would only have submissions from people on different websites which are just contributing to add pics for this competition and spread the word/show off models from many different sites. I'm not even really interested in $ but showing off your work and getting votes/having people comment on your work is a prize in and of itself. Otherwise I know I will not be submitting anything or viewing your competition.

I'm with Giblit in thinking that advertising this on other sites is really not going to be terribly productive. Given the fact that 30 posts are required, 1 of 3 things will happen:

1). Old members of Carpe Noctum who don't hang out there anymore will see and enter
2). Members of other forums will want to enter but be disqualified because of the posting requirements
3). Members of other forums will want to enter and start spamming to meet the posting requirements

Of these, I think it's safe to say that the vast majority of attention will be in category 2, with only some in the others.

Also, it seems that the contest has been open for a couple of weeks, and the announcements to other sites are only going out now? With the official rules stating that models must be converted/painted in the range of Sept-July, the window for working on them closes tomorrow!

All of that said, it would be very nice if you posted when the judging/voting is going to start, because seeing all of the finished entries is great fun for people on other sites, and a good way to garner attention.

Update

Please note that the restrictions around entries for Fantasy and 40K have now been lifted, and the entry date has been extended, so anyone should be able to enter.
