Hey everyone,
Over the past few years, my modelling has suffered due to the fact that I've moved about quite a bit. Now, I've usually managed to get some things done and play a few games because I've stayed within a few hours drive of home. But now I'm moving, probably permanently, about 5,000 km across the country (Canada). Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with shipping a large amount of models (more than I have actual cases for) such long distances? I have about 3,000 points of Blood Angels and about the same of Orcs and Goblins. I really don't want to give up the hobby... PS Any warpathers in Vancouver?  |

Just buy rolls of bubble wrap from a packaging store and wrap things up quite a bit. I've mailed metal and plastic and before with no problem.

Yeh most things you can just wrap. GW mail order boxes are excellent if you have managed to save a few. a thick layer of bubble wrap underneath and on top will stop any minis sliding provided they are packed tight.
Alternately if you have stuff magnetized then get some shoe-boxes and glue steel paper to the bottom. This post has been edited by Craze_b0i on Jul 28 2012, 04:03 PM |

I just picked up about 110 WOC models last week from a seller. USPS shipping from Georgia to Virginia, he mailed them to me in a USPS flat rate box. Basically he used ziplock bags, old tupperware, and some newspaper. (Sounds scary, right?)
Out of 110 models, we had one head pop off an infantry figure, 1 arm off a warrior, and broke the top of one axe. That's it. Granted, none of these were painted, just primed at most, but they held up really well. Biggest thing seems to be getting them boxed so they don't bang into each other making sure nothing can get smashed. |
