Hey guys, I'm adding two mangler squigs to my collection very soon. I want to read your funny or horrible story of what your mangler squig did to someone (even yourself) or in the case of someone being on the receiving end of a mangler squig, please share your thoughts and experiences.

I've had two really amazing/hilarious Mangler experiences.

- 1K game vs. Vampire Counts. He moves his 4 Vargeists up aggressively to threaten my lines on his first turn. On my first turn I try to combo charge them with a Wolf Chariot and 2 Trolls. Only the Trolls make it in, which makes me a little nervous. But then my Mangler swooped in to save the day; rolled 17" for movement, dealt 12 hits, 12 wounds, wiped out the squad before combat. Ended his move parked in front of the skellie bunker, which then took 11 casualties from stepping on it.

- 1600 vs. Lizardmen. He had 2 units of 10 Chamo Skinks threatening one of my flanks, lined up against my Doom Diver, Pump Wagon, and a Mangler. He got first turn, killing the Pump Wagon with a Skink unit, but the Mangler survived the other unit's shooting on 1 wound. It then ran straight into both units of Chamo Skinks, killing all 10 from one unit and 8 from the other. The remaining 2 Skinks panicked off the board.

Of course I've also had plenty of games where they just get stepped on by Eagles or Furies, or been killed by potshots from a unit of fast cav. The randomness is what makes them awesome! Also a great reason to take 2!

I'm using my mangler for the first time tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute with my own funny/tragic story.

My High Elf opponent had his army lined up in these two parallel lines, one in front of the other, and I Hand of Gorked my Mangler. I rolled a relatively low distance, so instead of getting behind the line like I had hoped, the closest I could get was on the side of the line, right in front of about 3 different groups of Archers. Instead of walking a small block of Archers into the Mangler, he chose have them shoot it instead. Rolls, gets a million hits, and half as many wounds. "Did you remember the Soft Cover?" I ask, and the resulting look on his face gave me a glimmer of hope. He re-rolled, only scored about 5 hits, and only 1 wound went through. I was jumping up and down in my excitement. We stopped the game right after that, as it was late, and I was so excited about what was about to happen that I barely slept that night. Later, we resume, starting on my turn, and I let them loose. I got about 29 High Elves, split between Sword Masters and White Lions. Here's a video of the aftermath! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AXvN4jhSUo

Bouncing my mangle-spider through a unit of 5 Mournfang and killing two, causing a failed panic test, which meant the mournfang fled onto the mangle-spider now behind them and were wiped out.

Mine usually gets stepped on, blasted, or shot to pieces. There is one game vs. Wood Elves where I went through a Treeman 3 times and never did more than 2 wounds! I mean, 10 hits and he comes out with only 1 wound? So, I never really expect much from them....

There is a guy called Empire Jim in my area....for always playing Empire. He always runs MSU armies and uses lots of detachments and such to slow you down. Well, he came up with a Flagellant MSU army that had a lot of units of about 10 Flagellants and a few other small support units. Backed all up with a lvl 4 and a wizard wagon.

My Manglers made it next to his battle line. I would be able to shoot through his whole line. I warned him he should just throw his 70 pt archer unit on it and kill it. I really stressed it. He didn't. I went through about 8 units! I killed the lvl 4 and destroyed the wizard wagon. I most have taken out about a third of his army with that one Mangler!

Woooooaah boy. if you are getting mangler squigs you are in for a treat smile.gif

I remember on one of my first games I played against skaven at my local GW. the biggest threat he had on the board was a horde of 60 storm vermin, but he made a tactical error: he placed them right by the table edge, so I knew if I could get them to flee it would cripple his army greatly.

at first I attempted to cast the foot of gork spell on his stormvermin with wurrzag on a warboar, whom was leading my spider riders (I don't use wurrzag anymore and when I do use spider riders I lead them with snagla grobspit). it was able to stomp them and cut their numbers down a bit, but it didn't cause any major damage.

the next turn I was originally prodding my mangler squigs towards a smaller unit of plague monks, because he was guarding the pathway to his storm vermin with a lightning cannon garrisoned in a building.

on his turn, his cannon misfired and shot it's lightning off the board, hitting no one. seeing the opportunity, I redirected my squigs into his storm vermin (whom were closer anyways), and it dealt 9 strength 6 armor piercing hits. but the worst was yet to come for my furry friend.

the next turn I rolled the scatter die and the mangler squigs made a complete u-turn and smacked right back into his storm vermin, causing another 6 strength 6 armor piercing hits. after that he had just about enough of these squiggly hijinks and moved his unit of stormvermin into the mangler squigs head on...a classic blunder.

he was forced to take 15 strength 6 armour piercing hits, taking him down to 25% of his original size. his general was in the unit, so he wasn't worried about his panic test. however, in a freak stroke of luck, he failed his panic test anyways, and rolled DOUBLE 6's when he rolled to see how far away he would run. he ran straight off the table edge, killing his entire unit instantly, before they ever even got into combat... just as planned biggrin.gif

the mangler squigs were a pain to paint though.

played against VC and the vc player decided to land on one with his vargulf.

I then rolled for the full 18 hits and did 17 wounds. He then rolled 11 regens, just barely dying. Sheesh.

I also had a dark elf player not land on it with his dark riders, expecting to just shoot/magic that one to death. Well he only did like 1 wound to it, so then I went through his dark riders, wiping them out, his bsb on peg(only did 1 wound to him with his reverse ward) and his black guard, killing like 8 and finally his spearelves all in one go, killing 4 or 5 of them as well.

Sent a Mangler up against Ogres - 5 Leadbelchers and a Firebelly General. It survived a round of shooting and a fireball cast attempt before ripping through them. Killed all but one Belcher and the Firebelly. Two Doom Divers later, the Belcher and Firebelly were dead!

In another game versus Ogres, a lone Mangler paralyzed a unit of four Mournfang. He was terrified of the Mangler; they didn't get a charge off the whole game. Later, two Wolf Riders charged and broke a nearby Sabretusk, panicking the Mournfang off the table. Hurray!

New guy I never played against, tells me he's getting ready for a tournament the following week.

Skaven he plays.
We setup, he gets first turn and his Abom rolls an impressive 14 meaning its 10" from my lines, the mangler is at an angle so about 13".

My turn comes up and I roll 17.
Smash through it and cause 10 hits, and... somehow 9 wounds of which he fails 6 regens.
Dead abom is dead. Right there, first turn.

Btw I ordered myself 2 Fakeworld (China) Colossal Squigs for my mangler models, hah.
This ought to be interesting on the table.
