Okay, so I've been thinking over the past year on what I should do now that there is a new edition, and a new O&G armybook to boot. Well, it took forever, but after one night of looking at my old miniatures, and some heavy drinking, I came up with the idea of mixing Night Goblins and Chaos.

I know. Pure Evil.

So far, I've been trying to divide the Goblin stuff in the new book up to make things even between the different Chaos Gods. I have pretty much gotten most of the different bits accounted for, but I need help with the last few bits and pieces.

Ideas so far:

Night goblins will be the main part of the army (I really like the Robes on them, it fits a cult theme rather well.), and here's how they'll be divided:

Skarsnik- He'll be the Undivided Champion guy. Kinda like a Gobbo version of Archaon the Everchosen of Chaos. I'll probably get a suitable Night Gobbo hero and make a Gobbla out of a Daemon of some form.

Each Night Goblin hero or Lord will mainly use Paint to show which God he worships, and which Units he can join.

Khornate Gobbos- I'll still use the Night goblin Models, but I'll be replacing their heads with Skulls from the VC skeleton sprue, and they'll use the rules for Regular Goblins. They'll be armed with HW and Shields.

Tzeentchian Gobbos- These will use the Night Goblin rules and models, but I'm going to smooth down the goblin heads into a flat surface, then paint them like either Mirrors or Magick. Their Robes will be painted Pink or Blue (Like Tzeentch Horrors.). They'll be Night Gobbos armed with Short Bows, but I'll convert them to look like they're casting spells instead of firing arrows.

Nurgle Gobbos- These are just Night Gobbos with Green Robes and Brown skin. I might add some Tentacles and such from the Spawn kit, but otherwise its going to be the paintjob that counts. They're going to be armed with Spears and Netters to represent their extra durability.

Slaanesh Gobbos- I'm not sure what I'll use Models-wise, but they will be painted in bright, garish colours for Slaanesh. They'll use Fanatics, but I don't know how to model them. Perhaps removing their heads and just painting the inside of their hoods black? I think I'll just replace their hand weapons/ shields with Claws from Daemonettes.

Those are just he regular troops, so I'll just quickly give a short run-down of what the rest of the army is like:

Khorne Stuff:
Gobbo Wolf Riders
Squig Herds
Gitilla da Hunta

Tzeentch Stuff:
Squig Hoppers (gobbos on Screamers)
Shamans

Slaanesh Stuff:
Squig Hoppers
Doomdiver Catapult
Wolf Chariots

Nurgle Stuff:
Snotlings
Spider Riders
Snagla Grobspit

Undivided (Or, can be used by any of the gods with a change in paintscheme)
Arachnarok Spiders
Trolls
Giants
all Mounts
Mangler Squigs
Spear Chukkas and Rock Lobbers

That's what I have so far. As you can see, there are no Orcs in this list. That's kinda the way I want to keep it at the moment, just because I want this to be a very fluffy army. I have some background brewing at the moment, and I'll post it later, but what I want to know is:

What do you guys think of how things are divided amongst the Gods so far?
Do you think these guys (with all the conversions and such) could ever be used at a Tournament?
Is there a better way to represent each god with Goblins?

Any Ideas are welcome,
Zug.

for tzeentch you could also field uints of gobbos all in wizard hats and robes etc with over the top wizard staffs tongue.gif

i once had the idea to build a chaos warrior army but chaosifying black orcs to use as warriors.
and orc boyz (or even savage orcs if khorne) for mauraders. (plus they are all on 25mm bases)

half the reason so i could use the models for both chaos and O&G tongue.gif

maybe one day smile.gif

but id love to see this army all finished up tho it would be a hell of a lot of work.

Technically goblins and orcs ARE touched by the chaos winds, which is why they look that way...

@ Morkmillian: Thanks for the idea for the Wizard Staffs, that'll make it a whole lot easier to sort out their right arms.

@ Da Spawn Man: I think I'm going to go a different approach with these guys. Maybe a bit more Daemonic than Goblin than i first thought.

Though, I have to say, I might be able to get the Battle for Skull Pass set soon, and if I'm able to, I might not be doing this project. Just food for thought.

I've worked up some fluff for the Khornate guys:

Brass Skulls of Khorne:
When Khorne finds a mortal soul that has transgressed against his warrior creed, he sends Karanak on a Hunt that is all but unstoppable. No mortal has ever escaped the teeth of Karanak, and when they are brought before Khorne, he judges their warrior spirit.

Almost every warrior to be brought before the Blood God has failed this test, and as punishment, Khorne binds the coward's sould onto their own Skull in his Eternal Forges, and casts them into the realm of mortals, doomed to live an existence as a weakling fighting much larger foes than himself, yet unable to flee.

That's the rough cut of it so far, I basically want the Khornate guys to be the souls of cowards forced to fight with puny bodies against superior foes. Thoughts?

If you want easier conversions, go for the 6th edition night goblins. The new ones are so small and mono-pose, there's little room to move. But you'll have to fight me for them! I hate the new ones so always are looking to buy the older ones. wink.gif
