![]() So this is the fifth game for the Blood in the badlands campaign. All scenario characters (including their background and relations) can be viewed in THIS THREAD. All entries are in english, but as the characters progress/dies things are changed and characters get replaced. This might confuse some readers if they choose to look at characters long after this game was placed! The entire map after the second round (before challenges) can be viewed on THIS PAGE!-notice that this game is on my lower mine. No daemon banner is present, but this is a mistake on the map In this game Gologh and the wyrmclaw tribe has fought their way through the Lizardmen hordes to get to the daemons. they attack at first light, only to find that they are now scattered and the daemons has gotten a bit too close. Scenario details - The lists are 2400 pts. - The scenario is dawn attack. - Previous games, mines etc. grant magic items which increases the characters allowance and doesn't encrease his points. - Special rules this season is that all dangerous terrain tests are failed on 1 or 2, (and life magic get +1 to cast, but we forgot about that). - The forrest in this game turn out to be Venom thicket. Magic - My Orc: Foot of Gork, Hand of gork, 'Ere we go, fists of gork. - GUO: Can't remember be his spell, Nurgle Herald: Had staff of nurgle and the plaugebearers had the reroll to wound banner. TZ Herald: Had Loremaster Lore of Light. The Orc list: 1 Black Orc Warboss @ 258.0 Pts General; Heavy Armour; Shield Basha's Axe of Stunty Bashin' Talisman of Preservation 1 Orc Great Shaman @ 255.0 Pts Magic Level 4; Big Waagh; Choppa Dispel Scroll Talisman of Endurance 1 Orc Big Boss @ 117.0 Pts Choppa; Shield; Battle Standard Armour of Fortune 1 Black Orc Big Boss @ 120.0 Pts Spear; Heavy Armour; Shield Dragonhelm 1 War Boar 1 Goblin Big Boss @ 87.0 Pts Light Armour Enchanted Shield Dragonbane Gem 1 Gigantic Spider 43 Orc Big 'Uns @ 437.0 Pts Second Choppa; Light Armour; FC Standard of Discipline 3x5 Goblin Wolf Riders @ 55.0 Pts Light Armour; Shield 40 Black Orcs @ 560.0 Pts Heavy Armour; FC; ASF Razor Standard 1 Orc Boar Chariot @ 85.0 Pts 2 Rock Lobbers @ 85.0 Pts 1 Doom Diver @ 80.0 Pts 1 Mangler Squig @ 65.0 Pts Total Army Cost: 2399.0 The Daemon list (Roughly) Annie, The Daughter of Nurgle Great Unclean One Lvl 4, Lore of Nurgle Stream of Bile Trappings of Nurgle(Free) 595 Nurgle herald, staff of nurgle. Tz Herald BSB. 35 Plauge bearers, reroll to wound banner. 35 Bloodletters 2x5 furies 1 Fiend 5 Flamers Deployment I deploy first, as per scenario rules Left flank ![]() Daemons: 5 Furies (reserve), 35 bloodletters + Herald (reserve) Orcs: Mangler, 5 wolfriders, 40 Black orcs + BSB in reserve. Right flank ![]() Daemons: GUOm 5 flamers, 5 furies, Fiend, 35 Plaugebearers + herald in outpost. Orcs: Pig boss, 2x5 wolf riders, 43 Big 'Uns + shaman + Gologh, Chariot, Spider boss, Doom diver, Rock lobber. Rock lobber (reserve) Though I deployed first, I rolles a 6 for who starts, and the daemons got first turn. Daemons Turn 1 ![]() - His bloodletters and furies enters on the left flank. The plauge bearers leave the house. ![]() - Staff of nugle puts two wounds on the Spider boss. - Flamers fry two wolfes. Orcs Turn 1 ![]() - My Blorcs enter in the buttom left and my second rock lobber on the other side of the house. - My wolf riders in the middle try and slow the daemon advance. - My spider boss and wolf riders to the right shields the rock lobber. They can't prevent the furies from charging but the van prevent an overrun into the diver. - Pig boss move up to hunt Flamers. ![]() - My mangler doesn't move far, which was very nice, so I plan on holding it back to avoid it beeing eaten by furies. - The wolf riders get ready to annoy the Bloodletters. ![]() - I get foot of gork of on 4 dice but miscast. I slay 3 plaugebearers but loose a wound and the rest of my phase... ![]() - Doom diver kills 2 furies. Daemons Turn 2 ![]() - And this was Horrible! I very simply made a huge mistake. He charge my wolf riders and the original intention was just to hold, but I then realized that my other wolf rider unit was the second closest target, and for some reason thought he was forced to redirect his charge into the nearest enemy unit. Of course he just redirected into my Big 'Uns with the single intention to slay my Shaman and dominate magic.- His bloodletters enter the house. ![]() - His furies did charge my lobber and the fiend move out of the chariots charge arc. ![]() - His flamers finished of my spider boss even with his save and 2+ ward ![]() ![]() - After combat it looks like this. I Slay 6 and wound his herald, He slays 7 and wound my shaman. So it was a drwan combat. - My lobber is run down. Orcs Turn 2 ![]() - Wolf riders on the flank fail animosity and charge the bloodletters in the house... - I move the mangler back behind my house. ![]() - I move my black orcs up. - Redirect his GUO with my pig boss to avoid disastor. - Pig wagon moves into position - Wolf riders shield warmachines. ![]() - The forest proves to be a venom thicket and I loose a few black orcs and my BSB gets wounded... ![]() - Both warmachines misfire. ![]() - I slay his herald with one overkill and thus removes his regeneration. Still the Big boys only do 3 wounds. I only loose 4 boys In return but the shaman is slain. I win by one. No daemons cruble though. Daemons Turn 3 ![]() - GUO charge my pig boss - Fiend charge wolfs - Furies conga line in fron of my Black orcs without taking any casualties to dangerous terrain ![]() ![]() - Bloodletters leave the house ![]() - Having dominant magic at this point I can't stop his spells and he gets Speed of light off ![]() - His Flamers kill 9! black orcs... ![]() - Sadly that spells my doom. The Big 'Uns are wiped out along with Gologh. The wolf riders flee as well. - The Pig boss is wiped out and the GUO reform to face the Black orcs. Orcs Turn 3 ![]() - All Is pretty lost, but my remaining goal is kill the GUO and give her an injury. - So the Pig chariot charge GUO, while the black orcs charge the furies to overrun into GUO. - The STUPID!! mangler was sent though the forest to hit tha blood letters and pot thourgh to block their further movement. I only need to roll a 6 and I roll 4 ![]() - And Yeahr... I fluff my attacks. Kill all but 1 fury. It is stedfast because of skirmishers in forests and it sticks... And that was the game. Victory to the Daemons (for the third time in a row) Post game results Daemon win. Orcs driven back. Sound beating: orcs fear daeons next game. Leader: Stupid Magic Item: 30 pts gift to GUO + relic. Post game thoughts - I know I made a Huge blunder by fleeing that charge. When I realized I even considered fleeing with my main blog, but I don't think it was possible, since my general was ItP. (I wouldn't risk it any way) - Now this was my third beating by the daemons and I find that I really struggle against them. They are soo hard to wound with their ward saves and even when I win combats they just stick. I have never tried having them crumble. - Also, having to set up first AND not get first turn was A killer. - Even when I bring 3 warmachines one unit of flamers make me feel like he has superior firepower. They just roast my orcs, and I really can't hurt them in return. - I really don't wanna play an all defensive build with thousands of spam units or to use the savages with shrunken head cauz it doesn't fit the theme, but I really have A hard time figuring them out. I do feel liek this list was okay though. The scenario really didn't play in my favor though. All comments (especially on how to beat the daemons) are very most welcome! To be fair, you made some major mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes go unpunished, sometimes, like this time, the opponent makes you pay dearly. Your fault.

Well, I couldn't agree more. I still do make lots of mistakes and in this game I really got to pay. @noisy. My luck was really ugly as well, so I'm just happy that it all piles together in one game, rather than haunting several |

Thanks mate, really glad you like them
Well the campaign last for a year, twelve rounds, and we've just finished round two, so there should be plenty of games to report from I have two high elf battles comming this month, one of which is a siege, and a third huge multi part battle, as a season ending scenario, with eight armies on four differnt tables. So It's gonna be a cracking year Just finished painting all my warmachines. Maybe that'll make them hit something |

Hey, I noticed that you have a really bad time fending off the Furies when facing off against the Demons. It doesn't seem like you are doing much to protect against them. I know fliers are hard to defend against, but not impossible.
Snotling Pump Wagons are perhaps the best war machine protectors. You don't even have to go crazy with upgrades. Just have one bound around your back field near your war machines. They can charge 360 and will probably do a lot of damage to any furies or other hunters. Even with the 5+ Ward, it's hard to fend off 2d6 impact hits (as long as you roll at least average). It should seriously wound them and reduce their capacity, if not remove them all together! Have you thought of using cheap units of Goblins? A unit of 20 with musician is only 65 pts (or did muso go up?). They can protect flanks or watch out for war machine hunters. Give them bows and make them 2 x 10 and you can get a lot of shots off. Sure, you won't hit much, but you don't need to hit too often. It's a great little unit to sacrifice for the greater good. They are also good to flank into the side of a bigger combat. The enemy only gets 1 rank to fight back and the Gobbos get 2. That's usually enough to be a bonus. Also, you remove their rank bonus and get a flank bonus. That's more in your favor. I've even broken Chaos Warriors by flanking them with Goblins (4 x 5). They aren't Steadfast and they start off behind in the CR game. If you can get Sneaky Stabbin in, you can actually wound the enemy... |
