(Note, i have just copied and pasted this from our local forum, and the reference to Empire in Flames (EiF) is from the last tournament I attended and came 4th at ).
I decided to take some elements which were hilarious from my Empire in Flames list and figured I would add to it. I really enjoyed taking some of the more interesting selections the O&G army book has to offer at empire in flames and learned that some weren't as bad as I thought so figured why not continue? Here's the list, tell me your thoughts - Orc Great Shaman lvl 4 (general) - Feedback scroll Night Goblin Warboss - Wizarding Hat Goblin Big Boss BSB - Spider Banner - Shield, Bow Night Goblin Warboss - Sword of Swift Slaying - Potion of Strength - Armour of Silvered Steel - Luckstone - Great Cave Squig Night Goblin Big Boss - Armour of Destiny - Great Weapon - Great Cave Squig 102 Night Goblins - Netters, Shortbows, FC 20 Night Goblins - Standard, 2 fanatics 5 Wolf Riders 5 Wolf Riders 6 Trolls 1 Troll 10 Squig Hoppers Wolf Chariot Wolf Chariot Boar Chariot Doom Diver Arachnarok Total 2399 I would have loved to keep the big squig herd horde in the list from EiF but I wanted to try some models / units I hadn't before so they were subbed out for the Arachnarok which I'm desperately trying to assemble and paint up. I'm not quite sure how to use the Arachnarok but I guess I'll figure it out. The squig hoppers are the main inclusion which seem to cop a lot of abuse from greenskin players but I wonder how many of these players come to that conclusion based on theory hammer alone. It would probably have been best to try them out in a friendly game first but half the fun is seeing how they perform against a multitude of armies. The Two characters on great cave squigs seem like a lot of fun, but I won't necessarily auto include them into the squig hopper unit. It might be useful most of the time but against an army which doesn't have a lot of shooting I'd be quite tempted to split them up and provide multiple threats. I opted to take the feedback scroll over a dispel scroll purely for the X factor. I managed to blow up two archmages at EiF with the item (one incident was very lucky and shouldn't have happened) which made me hesitate dropping it for Convic. I know the Wizarding hat warboss is a very expensive level 2 shaman and it means I cannot take a scroll but he is absolutely hilarious to play and makes every game interesting with the random lore I get. Lastly, the character I consider to be the staple in every list I take - the goblin bsb with the poison banner. No protection I know but you need to live on the edge . Thoughts? Looks fun eh? |

Hey Staks,
Love the army! Has real personality to it whilst still having plenty of 'win'. Looks pretty strong truth be told. No protection on the goblin BSB is unavoidable and that unit is just a beating. Squig hoppers seem fine. Random movement with re-rollable 3d6 seems extremely useful. Having looked at it now, I might have to give it a go in a few frendlies. A good selection of chariots and trolls. I'm a bit concerned about the consistency of trolls when your Ld 8, on a shaman without protection or the earthing rod. But hey - O&G, what are you gonna do? I'm always interested in how others do with wolf riders as I've been pretty dissapointed with them. They always seem to be the ones failing animosity and then picking a fight with my unit with eh L4 in it. Little gits! I hope the Arachnarok works out. I love the model and I've tried to make it work but it's been a slow start. Watch out for Ld 6. See you at Convic. Matt |

Should be interesting staks. Is Convic a comped tournament?
I don't rate squig hoppers, despite them being my favourite unit in 7th; they just die to damn easily now the fight is in initiative and the opponent has step up. I like those rules, but the hoppers dont ![]() That block of night gobbos is huge! Are you sure you don't want to split off 25 or so as a flanking unit? 75 should do as much/little damage as 102. I would like to run an arachnarok again, but it didn't perform well for me at Dogcon last year. It fled off the table from a single bloodcrusher I charged in the first game, it was badly deployed and did nothing the second, got chopped up by dwarves that didn't break the third, was blocked by a budgie most of the 4th game, and ran rampant the 5th. 3 chariots is all kinds of win Whatever way it goes, have fun. Let us know how these units performed for you ![]() RoV |

Interesting is good and usually catches people by surprise. I'd like to hear how it goes!
I love the Feedback Scroll and have taken it over the dispel scroll a number of times and rarely missed it. The best trick is to use it as early as possible. If so, you might kill off their wizard sooner and have best effect. Lvl 2's are the best target as you have a better chance to get them. Less chance of ward save, too. If they do some sort of Purple Sun or other vortex early, throw that puppy out! Kill the mage and then the vortex dies after 1 round. I'd like to hear about your luck with Squig Hoppers. They can't hit too many units in the front as for the reasons mentioned above. If you can use the 360 charge and hit someone in the flank, you should be golden. Maybe go for war machines and missile troops, too. They can't Stand and Shoot and you can actually take them on. Just watch out for High Elves as they can kill you easy. I've used the Arachnarok a lot and am pretty happy with it. It's great for taking out enemy monsters and light infantry. Anything with a high S attack is death for it. Dwarfs with GW, Treekin, anything with GW, will kill it. Watch out for bum rolls against monsters or you might face a break test. Against light infantry with no heroes, this guy destroys them! Skellies, State Troops, etc. The T6 and 4+ AS are good. The Gobbos on top are good, too. No war machines? I love the rock lobba as an anti-war machine or anti monster. |

Sorry guys but it's a little bit of an anti climax. I was a bit ambitious with the models I was required to have done in time so I have had to settle for something a little less interesting. Regardless, I'll update my list on Friday with a battle report testing the list out, along with a full battle report with photo's of the event once it finishes next week.
