I noticed a game of this type running over at Bugman's Brewery and wondered if anyone would be interested to take part in something on here? I haven't run one of these online games before but I recon I pretty much understand the mechanics.
To explain briefly, interested parties would first log their characters eg. name, race (I am assuming orc or goblin), profession, background etc Once the game is ready I would then create a play thread where you are given the situation and can then post your characters actions and dialogue etc. People wouldn't need huge amounts of spare time as the response time would probably be around once every 5 days. The rest I can explain as we go, if there is sufficient interest to play. This post has been edited by Craze_b0i on Jun 21 2012, 02:54 AM |

It'd be nice if the forum had a built in dice roller app.
![]() I'd be down to give it a shot, but my schedule is a bit chaotic at times. For ease of rules, may I suggest the BRP ruleset? (Unless you already have something specific in mind). Though I've only ever used that for Call of Cthulhu, etc - it's very flexible and generally forgiving. (as opposed to say, 4th ed. D&D with all the feats/powers/etc). |

JSYK, I've never EVER EVER played an RPG in real life before. Never played D&D or anything like that. But I love story telling and the idea of everything, so count me in, but you'll need to explain everything I need to do.
Hmmm.... Mushroom addictive night goblin? Transvestite slayer dwarf? Could be interesting..... |

I don't know what is BRP? This would not be anything like D&D (Dungeons and Dragons). No rolling for stats or all that stuff. It would be very simple and description based. In other words doesn't matter if players never did RPG before. The only time dice would come into it would mostly be situations like combat or shooting, in which case I would base it on warhammer 8th edition. Ah, I see. BRP is just a different ruleset. At least with like CoC, you do roll for character stats, etc. Pick from a list of X skills, buy points in them ranging from 0%-99% in a skill. ie. 75% skill in sneak, 25% in shotguns, etc. Then for the skill challenges, it's basically just a pass/fail. Roll 75 or less on a d100, you pass, 76+, you fail. DM's, Keepers, whatever can add/maniuplate modifiers as needed for more fluff or in game progress. Depending on circumstances, if someone is trained in a skill, I might do automatic success depending on the task, whatever. It's very flexible and good for on the fly gaming if you're using character sheets and all that. Runequest was/is the big Fantasy RPG in that ruleset I think.

Ah I see. But as I said above the type of game I was suggesting here is nothing as complicated as that.
Players would simply choose their character's race, profession, personal background etc. From there it would simply be about taking part in the story. ![]() Example here http://www.bugmansbrewery.com/topic/37716-...ld-play-thread/ This post has been edited by Craze_b0i on Jun 21 2012, 04:44 PM |

I'd probably be game for at least giving this a go. I haven't ever done a forum-based RPG, but I'm certainly a fan of pen-and paper, and this seems like it could be quite a fun variant.
And with a load o' greenskins involved, you know it'll get...*ahem*...interesting |

Okay well thats 4 in so far which is a nice start. I assume everyone is happy to play as orcs or goblins.
I'll start giving some thought to the plotline. Right now I have a working-title but not much else. |

Wait, so we're not going to be playing other races? :..(
EDIT: At the very least can we play O&G-related races? Like trolls, hobgoblins and the like? Heck, I was thinking my character could be thus: Manfreid the Eloquent but Shunned Squig. Manny for short. This post has been edited by Da Spawn Man on Jun 22 2012, 10:51 AM |

We need a set of characters who can fit together as a party. Elves, dwarfs etc. would not really fit well with a party of orcs and goblins. I'm not going to allow trolls, first because they would be too dumb to know what is going on and second in combat-terms they would be too big and overpowered. And no you can't play a squig either, for obvious reasons... Hobgoblins however would be acceptable. I might allow other requests such as chaos dwarf or chaos human if you can invent a plausible story to explain why your character is hanging out among the OnG tribes.
