First of all Hi to everyone at Da-Warpath! Been reading for a while but this is my first post.

I've not played or collected for about 10 years and have just recently had some time to get back into the hobby. Time but not money...

The army below is based almost entirely on what figures I have managed to scrounge off ebay or from friends (I haven't shelled out more that about £50-75 on the entire army).

The question is will this army perform at all well? Bear in mind that I can't afford to massively alter its make up.

Any help much appreciated!

Welcome to Da Warpath! yarr.gif

You have a nice army to start playing with. However, I would try to obtain some night goblins. You need a cheap anvil there wink.gif, but still, you can start playing with what you have.

Wolf riders are great, but in small units. They will be your redirectors&warmachine hunters. They great and cheap. In units of 5 with spears and shields are just 60 points!

I would use the common boys on foot with AHW with the big un upgrade. They will do a lot of chopping wink.gif. Also, they can carry a magic standard.

Doom divers are one of the best warmachines in the game, so it's great you have a couple of them. In the future, try to add a rock lobber too!

The giant is really fun to play, but the big drawback is that it dies easily. You can play with him at the flank and he will not need the Ld from the general to do his job.

Hi, welcome to Da Warpath.

a few quick points.

The orc shaman is better on foot, being a lone character or joining the boar boyz makes him too vulnerable. Its also worth taking a L1 or L2 shaman as backup, goblin or night goblin would be good.

You need a BSB. For Orcs and Goblins this is totally essential.

I disagree with mick666 on the wolf riders. 5 is ok for regular wolf riders, but to make the most of the Howler upgrade I would definately take more than that, I'd say 10 as absolute minimum. Having said that I've never used Gitillas Howlers myself so you will have to experiment and find the optimal number.

20 is a bit small for the orc big'un unit, 2 main possibilities here... a unit of 30 deployed 6 wide or a unit of 40 deployed as a horde.

The guys have made good points, but I would just reinforce the fact you NEED a protected BSB, they are far more than +1 combat res and magic banner holder now. I am not sure if you know, but they allow EVERY unit within 12" to reroll leadership tests and panic tests. Worth it's green hide in teeth he is smile.gif

I were talking without using special characters. And even using them, is mandatory to have some diverters and units of wolf riders is one of the best things we have.

Thanks for the replies guys, lots to think on there.

As Craze_b0i suggested I took the big wolf rider unit as I wanted to capitalize on Gatilla's 'Da Hunterz' free upgrade.

However if I need to take a BSB and maybe make the larger orc unit Big uns then I might have to consider dropping Gatilla and forming a few smaller units of wolfies...

Or can someone suggest something else I can drop altogether? The arrer boys maybe? The spear chukka?

I would see at least one unit of arrer boyz as expendable; the BSB will be much more valuable. I would also consider dropping the wolfies to 12 wolves. With Gitila that makes 13, need to lose 4 in a phase for a test. You don't need that many ranks in my opinion.

But, every list should reflect the player more than anything else. Go with what you will enjoy playing with biggrin.gif

I would drop the arrer boys. They don't much and their shooting is nothing spectacular.
