Hello everybody, this is my first post here. I have just recently become very interested in making an OnG army and so I wrote up a quick army list that might be fun. (I am brand new to this game and am starting to plan out an army before I start purchasing anything)

ARMY LIST:
40 Night Goblins, 1h Weapon and shield, FC, nets, 3 fanatics - 270 points
25 Night Goblins, Bows, FC - 105 points
15 Black Orcs, FC, Razor Standard - 260 points
10 Goblin Wolf Riders, FC, shields - 140 points
1 Goblin Great Shaman, Level 4 - 175 points
1 Snotling Pump Wagon, Flappas - 50 points

Totaling to 1000 points on the nose. Is this a good army? If not, what can I do to make it better?

Welcome to Da Warpath yarr.gif

You really need a boost of Ld. Just having a goblin great shaman is not going to save you from panic tests. Also, a L4 shaman for 1000 points is wayyyyyy too much. A goblin warboss is cheap and has Ld8. That's a perfect general for 1000. A BSB (battle standard bearer) is also mandatory for an OnG army. If you get a goblin big boss with standard of discipline and you put it in the same unit of the general, you will give Ld9 to your army! A drawback is that your BSB is a bit naked, but well, you can give him the armour of destiny and he will be fine.

Great add with those wolf riders! but I would recommend to split them in two units without FC. This will give you some advantages: more deploying units and more redirectors/warmachine hunters. They are not so easy to use at the beginning, but you will see how well they can redirect and annoy your opponents death star wink.gif. So to sum up: 2 units of 5 wolf riders with spear and shields.

Ok I made some changes to my Army

Here's what it is right now
1 Goblin Warboss - 65 Points
40 Night Goblins, 1h Weapon and Shield, FC, nets, 3 fanatics - 270 Points
25 Night Goblins, Bows, FC - 105 Points
15 Black Orcs, FC, Razor Standard - 260 Points
5 Goblin Wolf Riders, Spears + Shields - 60 Points
5 Goblin Wolf Riders, Spears + Shields - 60 Points
1 Night Goblin Big Boss, BSB, Armor of Destiny - 105 Points
1 Snotling Pump Wagon, Flappas, Spiky Roller - 65 Points
This should equal about 990

While reformatting I came across 2 questions

1. Is it a completely horrible idea to go Night Goblins for my commander and my BSB? They are my favorite goblin type and I'd like to if I could, but I'm wondering if the 1 less ld is a terrible thing to lose

2. Miniatures. While making this, I looked around the GW website and found no Warboss miniatures that were unmounted, and I also found no Big bosses with Battle Standards, how is that handled normally?

The boss models can be used as warbosses. Honestly I have no idea why GW declares them as one or the other.

It's probably worth moving at least one of your fanatics to the 25 strong unit of NG with bows. Assuming that you're going to stick these guys on a flank or something, it will give the unit something to make knights, etc. think twice about before charging.

I would also consider dropping 5 BOs, the champion upgrade and the razor standard and instead pick up a flaming banner.

With the leftover points, I would grab a level 2 NG shaman with a dispel scroll.

At a very minimum, a great weapon on your warboss should be worth the points. Some protection would be nice as well, but you'll have to find some cuts elsewhere.

Anyway, just some ideas.
