Ok, I received the wonderful savage boss from Enigma miniatures. An excellent miniature, it is the best cast I've ever seen: completely flawless, not a flash, not an imperfection, no mouldlines.
Speaking of the model itself, it's wonderful, so simple but so well executed. It's also an enormous model, it towers also over the new plastic savage orcs and even over the ork nobz. I really hope the new GW plastic one is big as this one.
I decided to make him the general of my savage themed sub-army, cause it's impressive. The head is great, but I'd prefer something that fits more the style of my army, so I tried to make a photoshop mock-up with a Maxmini resin head (another wonderful set, beautifully casted and full of details), and it fits perfectly. What do you think? could it work? smile.gif

I really like both heads. The first head because it goes with the body to me is the nicest. But I think with paint matching (obviously) the second head could work nice too. I think this one is entirely up to your preference. Do you have a picture of scale for the two? I think I may have to pick one up. I've been looking for a larger than life warboss.

From the left:
1) One of the four 5th edition Savage orc bosses
2) 6th edition champion
3) 8th edition plastic champion
4) Tales of war Throt agart
5) Enigma miniatures Ulkurz
As you can see he's a big boy tongue.gif
Notice that some of the orcs (1,2,4) are on a scenic base, so they appear taller than they really are wink.gif

BTW, thanks for your advices smile.gif

The first head looks awesome. I dislike the second one because the edge of the mouth looks somehow wrong, I think the lips should curve up/down more to meet at the side.

I'm actually rather partial to that second head. It gives a nice psychotic vodoo-man look to the model. So long as the two heads are the same scale I'd say go for it!

If the scale is OK I think it should work.

But I really like the original head better.
If you want the headgear you could just add this to the head.

It would take a skull (which you should have plenty off) and some tails r hair-pieces that come in nearly all OnG kits. Just take three, file down the sides and stick the together.

But hey, it's your choice.

Just post pictures of what you've done please wink.gif

It's a nice model and very well sculpted. As for the head choice, have you tried to use a GW orc's head? Maybe one from the savage orcs kit?

I tried the GW old boar boyz heads and they fit really similar to the Maxmini head, they're pretty similar smile.gif I don't like the plastic savage heads, they're just too flat.

@entertainme: it's not just for the headgear, but for the overall concept of the head smile.gif

I really like the original head. He didn't get to be warboss by being the same every other savage! The only thing majorly different are the ears - they're smaller and higher up. I think if you cut them off and sculpted your own on, the head would look much better.
