I could not see this anywhere else on the forums but at the moment mantic (a small company that makes miniatures similar to GW) is doing a kickstarter here is the link:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/kings-of-war Before I get flamed to death some of the pledges have really good deals on the armie bundles etc. Also if they reach the $50,000 mark they will make and release a new Orc gore chariot which can also be made into a fight wagon. This can be great if you want a new game to get into or just some cheaper substitute models to play warhammer with friends. Also their new goblins look quit good they are slightly different design to the warhammer ones (they have longer noses) and would make a great substitute as I know how nobody like the basic goblin unit that GW has at the moment. |

I have been eying this on Twitter. I've been trying to think of what the most reasonable deal you can get via donations is. I'm trying to get either abyssal dwarfs, orcs, or goblins. I don't have a lot of spare cash, is the problem...

If your after the abyssal dwarfs wait awhile as quite a few people have been asking for them and some of the other more pricey races to be added as a cheaper pledges in smaller amounts ie a $50 pledge were you get a couple of units or something.
At the moment I think the best deals are the 1000pt ones as they are about $50 cheaper than if you bought the units individually and that's not including the cost of the rulebook and all the other extras you get. Also if you can find a friend who will go in with you (or you have lots of money lying around) You can get for $275 two 100pt armies which works out at only $130 per army and you get rulebooks etc. this is actually $140 cheaper than if you bought the units individually. Oh and the best part is you don't have to pay until June 25th so that gives you just under a month to save up This post has been edited by Zaros on May 29 2012, 02:46 PM |

For those of you who haven't checked this kickstarter out yet, you should note that Mantic has met a ton of stretch goals, and as such there are a lot of extras coming with pledge levels over $100. It gets even better at $175 and $225. Here's the current status on bonus stuff:
"Every backer will get their hard copy of the Kings of War Hardback Rulebook signed by Ronnie and Alessio if they've included one in the pledge. All dice have been upgraded to Mantic Splat dice in pledges of $35 or more. Also, everyone whose pledged $100 or more will receive: - A free Mummy figure - A free Troll figure - A free Orc Chariot/Fight Wagon - Your name immortalised in the Kings of War Hardback Rulebook - A free electronic version of the Kings of War Hardback Rulebook - An electronic version of the Kings and Legends Supplement - A signed Lithoprint of the Mantica Map - a free ticket to our Mantic Party in September/Gencon Kings of War event in August" At $175, you get a free unit of 5 mummies and three trolls, at $225 you add 3 free ogres or 3 free ogre shooters, and 3 free werewolves. The newly produced units (ogres, trolls, mummies, werewolves, chariot/fightwagon) are also available buy one get one free in the "special extras" section for $25. EDIT: I mistakenly posted that you get 3 free ogres and 3 free ogre shooters at $225, but you only get one or the other. This post has been edited by InsideReticle on Jun 14 2012, 04:16 PM |

Mantic's kickstarter project is pretty awesome! I just got myself a brand new (very large) undead army with the 175$ level + 50$ of extras.
It sums up to: 40 skeletons, 20 renevants (grave guard), 20 ghouls, 60 zombies, 10 knights, 5 wights, 1 catapult, 9 werewolves, 9 trolls (which I will convert into undead trolls for crypt horrors), 25 elven palace guard (which I will kitbash with the renevants for grave guards with great weapons), 1 vampire character, 1 necromancer character and a ton of other stuff (dwarf cavalry, elven cavalry, goblin cavalry, mummies etc.) The good thing is that their orcs and goblins looks pretty good too! |

Right now for $225 you get your choice of rewards(I will likely pump most of it into the extras, especially the buy one get one free section) +
free undead standard bearer free skeletal dog free splat dice free orc chariot 3 free trolls 3 free ogres(hw, crossbows or guns) 3 free werewolves 5 free gargoyles 5 free mummies 5 free elf palace guard 5 free abysmal dwarf immortals 5 free elf cav 5 free twilight kin cav 3 free celestial angels 5 free celestial nuns 5 free celestial man-at-arms 5 free brock riders(dwarf cav) 5 free flea bag riders(goblin cav) free electronic rulebook free electronic supplement free ticket to gencon mantic kings of war event free map and your name in the rulebook Plus 1 of each metal characters made(around 4 right now) from the higher up reward pledges. That's a ton of stuff. And if they make it to 250k then you will get 5 free greatsword celestial troops as well and an electronic copy of their first novel. A lot of that is available at the $175 mark, but $225 seems to be the sweet spot. |

Mantic are going to make trolls? Awesome. Would be great to get a source of good affordable common trolls. I find skull pass ones are boring on their own, and the Reaper ones are not quite to my taste. |

This stuff looks even better with the good pound to dollar rate at the moment... just sorted myself out a nice undead force too... and actually the delay means i might actually get all my orcs and goblins done before they arrive... well maybe

If the artwork comes anywhere close to the model for the trolls, they will look awesome.
Since I have 10,000 plus points of orcs, and nearly 6,000 points left to paint, I did not go for the Orcs... I picked up 2 elf armies. 2,000 points in Mantic's KoW game, but nearly 4,000 points in GW terms. If I paint em green, they still count right? |
