Hi all, I doubt anyone here remembers me but I used to be a member here a few years ago. i have to start by apologizing though. I was involved in the Tale of Four Gamers in the DWQ back then, but due to school I left without saying a word.

I haven't been playing much warhammer since apart from the occasional roleplaying or Mordheim game. I have recently been drawn back to Warhammer by my friends and started rebuilding my Lizardmen army. Me and my best friend have a problem though: we really don't like what warhammer has become in 8th edition, especially the army books. So both of us have gone back to good old 6th edition smile.gif. Since we're both Lizardmen players we needed new armies. He got himself some Tomb Kings (and I gave him some random models I had) and found my Orcs again. And boy have I fallen in love yet again!

I'll make a pic of the army I have standing soon. I'd like to repaint everything but that will take a long while, so'll focus first on getting what I need. What I need are some warmachines. And you know students, we like to pretend we're poor between going out, so I'm not keen on spending a lot of money on something I can build myself. And it's supposed to look rubbish, ain't it? So i'm going to build myself a Rock Lobba and some Spear Chukaks (though I really like their models), right after I've build my own Doomdiver smile.gif . I've some quick thumbnailsketches about what it could look like, wadaya think?

So we have:
- a troll throwing a goblin
- two orcs throwing a goblin up into the air, after which a troll knocks him away with a bat
- a more traditional doomdiver
- a goblin polevaulting towards the enemy, cheered on by some goblin cheerleaders
- two goblins jumping on a lever to catapult a third one
- a troll flinging away a goblin with some elastic rope
- a goblin jumping on a plank on a spring
- a salvaged cannon being used to shoot away goblins

so what do you think? Or do you have any ideas yourself? I quite like the polevaulter and cannonn, and the cheerleaders. Whichever one I'll make, i'll make an extra goblin who'll hold up the score, and I'll make some seperate cards so I can decide after each shot how spectacular it was and give that card to the goblin (untill the next fase). Looking forward to replies wink.gif

Welcome (back) to Da Warpath! I'll start by saying that I totally think you're a terrible person for not liking 8th edition... laugh.gif No, to each his/her own.

The concept sketches look really cool and funny. I'd say go for it!

The rest of the stuff is a bit harder to see, obviously. The picture isn't the greatest, but there seems to be nothing wrong with the models from what I can see. (Not that you can ever go wrong with O&G! wink.gif)

Yes, it wasn't really my intention to show how the models are painted, just what I have standing so far. The plan is to repaint everything, but i'm zoggin slow tongue.gif

Looking good Eyestabba.

keep at it!

the job of painting a greenskin army is never done, unless you have a horde of grots who'll do it for you.

Agree with that, a lot...

Looks like a fun decent start to your army eyestabba. Cool concept sketches for sure. A cheap doom diver can be made from the spare scrap launcher parts of the ogre ironblaster cannon. If there is an ogre player near you, he will most likely have them as ironblasters are just a much better and more popular choice.

Keep patient with 8th edition, I got quite annoyed with it when it came out, but I'm really enjoying it now.

I've decided that the colour of my army (apart from green) will be blue, cuz da blue uns are lucky and I need al the luck I can get tongue.gif. Next up, the start of my next Orc Boyz unit. I have one with choppas and shields, should I make one with two hand weapons next? (remember, 6th edition tongue.gif )

I've also found a great way to strip paint of minis: Dettol! That means I'll be painting a troll soon smile.gif

It isn't just the rules, more like the overall feeling of the game (everything has to be ridiculously big and strong), where's the time you'd gaze in awe when your oponent fielded a dragon?

I think that shaman is beautiful! biggrin.gif And the boyz look promising. They look like they could be Big'Uns if you built the rest of the unit similarly.

I've finished modelling the first rank of what will probably be big 'uns with extra hand weapon (exams ensure a slow pace):

One of the lads in more detail:

And I've noticed I forgot to glue the shaman's knife on, so ere's another shot of the weird git:

I've finally finished the command group for my Big Uns with 2 hand weapons tongue.gif And it onlytook me a month! (I just posted in my blog on a Lizardmen forum and there it had been a year...)

I've made a little comparison with my old unit. So first up is the old command group from a couple of years ago:

And here's the new one :

The picture is a bit dark because the sun didn't want to cooperate, the bastard.

But, school's out for now, so I should have some more time (even though I'm doing an internship at the moment). Next up are more boyz and a random hero or troll.

The sun is shining bright, so I can finally take a picture of my Big Uns. I finishedthe front rank about a week ago, but I've been mostly busy with my lizardmen.

Nice big'uns, the blue is a striking choice and the models are actually really better than the original scheme ^^
