Crazy Community Unit Project 2

OK folks; following on from last years successful Crazy Community Unit Project, which saw the creation of a 25 strong regiment of Orc Boyz (pictured) won by Paiant Slapah, its time to do it all again but this time with Goblins.



Anyone on the forums who wants to take part can donate a Goblin painted/modeled up to the best of their ability to the community unit. This unit will become thing of legend and one lucky contributor will be randomly chosen to WIN THE WHOLE UNIT! The more people that take part the stronger the unit will become.

The Goblins will be armed with hand weapons, shields and bows as this is a good unit in game terms and gives plenty of modelling opportunities. The people doing command group models/Nasty Skulkers have been chosen and are shown in the list of who's taking part, below:

I second the common gobbo with hand weapons approach. And I am MUCH better at both converting and painting than last year. At least I think so myself.

Your drummer was indeed very cool last time, although it might be fairer to mix things up a bit and let other peoples models go at the front. I was thinking we could maybe do a vote for who does the command and Nasty Skulkers, people that wanted to could submit their ideas for the model they wanted to do and then have a vote to decide. Or maybe I will just choose one of the nominees who I think could do the best job from looking at their previous work, I quite fancy myself as a bit of a dictator. Maybe the honour of doing a command model would also forfeit the chance of winning the unit.

Do we think bows are a good idea in addition to Hand Weapons and Shields? Or would people prefer a unit with no Bows?

I haven't been terribly active here since joining in September, for various reasons, (much to my embarrassment!) but I'd love to contribute.

That is probably going to go just fine. I joined in the last CCUP just after joining the forum last year, and I think I have been more active here than I would have otherwise.

...come to think of it, I probably joined the forum to participate in the CCUP.

I'd suggest sticking with the hand weapon, shield and bow options. My argument would be that we can not guarantee enough of us to make a superly large unit, which is what you want for a unit that does steadfast etc. The addition of the bows will make it a better unit at the kind of 30+ size we will probably get.

As for command options. I'm happy to sit those out and let others take that limelight. Besides my idea will stand out just a little and will look better in the back ranks anyway. Do we make those doing the commands forfeit being in the lotto at the end? I say no as that wouldnt be fair. May allow those that want to do those models post and then pick them at random. Thats probably as fair as we will ever get on da-warpath. It's your project though and I'm happy to go with what ever. I'd be just happy to be part of it and have a chance (all be it slim) of winning. I promise though that if I do win you will be getting very regular updates on how that unit does...


* Edit: There could be scope, fpor thos ethat wanted to, to submit two models. I'm just thinkign that we want a unit of gobbo's to be larger than 30 dont we? What do you think cb_rex?

I think this would be fine but people would still only have one chance of winning the unit, it also depends on how many people want to join in, once I get an idea of the interest, then this thing will flesh it's self out a bit more.

Having had to endure watching the last one from afar, unable to participate, I'd like to sign up this time around please Mr. cb_Rex sir.

Bit of a shame that common goblins are some of the fugliest models in existence but then I guess it's more incentive for conversions.

I'd wait and see how many sign up before you pick equipment. A unit of just 20 would be better with just bows (cheap bunker). Whereas a bigger unit, say 30 or 35 would give you more scope.
