On point n°2 of the rules : does the goblin have to wear the 3 options, i.e single hand weapon+shield+bow, or can we choose a mix of at least 2 of these items, or a specific combo like weapon+shield, or weapon+bow, etc...

Let me know. I can't wait to start working on my goblin, and I hope to be albe to finish my part of the project

different combos should be fine (well imho) as long as we dont all pick the same one.

and now a few questions of my own?

1. can i sent in something very old and not GW?
2. can i make the 'spiritual leader' of the unit (which means he will not have a weapon or shield, but rather a book and staff)

and count me in.

After going through my bits, I discovered that I needed a couple of goblin torsos.

Anyway after looking at all the bitz sites I could find, these guys are the only ones with any stock of goblin parts.

Thought I would post them here in case anyone else is having the same problem.

Yeah.

Personally my gobbo archer is not going to be left handed!

You don't have to give all of the equipment if you don't want, they're assumed to have hand weapons, literally claws, even if the model doesn't appear to have a sword or something, so yeah, that's cool.

Good thinking Xellpher posting a bitz site, my model could do with a torso as well.

@BorkBork - as long as the model roughly matches the size and style of the current GW plastics then it will be fine. A staff is a hand weapon and a book could be used as a shield, so your model can look like a book worm if you want, just don't make him look too much like a shaman.

@Mostyn - The bases will probably be something fairly simple and small as big basing tends to bury Goblins quite a bit. Maybe sand textured, painted with Graveyard Earth drybrushed with a pale colour like Bleached Bone or Dheneb Stone, I think that's the sort of recipe for the standard GW earthy looking bases on their O+G range. Having said that I'm no expert on basing, what colours do you tend to use for basing and what do you think would be good to use for this unit?

Also, its a big NO NO to placing your model on 2" high rock so he stands out. We don't want to start and arms race with trying to make models stand out, if you do a cool conversion and/or paint job then your model will stand out for that reason.

So he's going to hold his bow in his left hand, then? Like all the others? You know, a left handed archer holds his bow in the right hand, and draws with his left. wink.gif

I found that Hoard o' Bits also has some gobbo torsos, but they generally sells in 10's or 20's.

Da Git: That of course is the problem with the GW common goblins in that they're all holding the bows in their right hands and so are left handed. I'm left handed so ought to be sympathetic but it is a really lazily sculpted sprue if you ask me (just compare it to the 6th edition plastic Night goblin sprue which is awesome and has right handed archers). Less great big spiders more decent common troops for the next edition please GW!

cb_rex. What colours I use varies greatly but you are right, if the unit is going out to mix with another's army we ought to stick to standard colours. For what it's worth I tend to use a VMC Brown (like Graveyard Earth only a bit darker), then drybrushed with Foundry Ochre B and Bleached Bone. Not because I like to use fancy paints but because I ran out of other colours! I think your scheme is fine and much better suited to this project.

Don't worry I was joking about the rock. I was thinking more along the lines of a mushroom or severed head but I might be over estimating the amount of space on the base once a goblin is on there, It's been a while since I last did one that wasn't on a wolf.

Yes, they're pretty much identical. I merrily used to swap torsos and arms between the two until I ran out of night goblin bits sad.gif

If it helps all these wolf riders at the link used the old 6th Edition Night Goblin arms (or more, obviously, in the case of the goblin wolf centaur things).

Have we started yet?

Not that I have time before this weekend anyway, but I thought we'd get some sort of GO sign or similar biggrin.gif

That guy looks schweet, sir! smile.gif

And just to check, it is OK to base my skulker conversion on a 40k Gretchin, right? He should fit right in, but he's slightly smaller than your avarage gobbo maybe. He's gonna have a big flowing cloak and stand on a piece of masonry (nothing over the top or obstrusive, promise!), and he is the biggest body from the Gretchin set. That should be fine, right? He's quite in style with the GW skulkers.
