Hi all

Just thought that I'd start to make some records of my latest battles to help me while I am writing my list for the upcoming campaign that kicks off in June. I had decided to go all Night Goblin but for 1k I desperately needed hammer units and better leadership plus I love trolls so that list went out the window and I have a new mixed "balanced" list.

Orc BB (Gen) - 72
Gold Sigil Sword, Shield

Orc BB (BSB) - 92
Shield, Dragonhelm

Night Goblin Shaman - 75
Ruby Ring of Ruin

Boyz Mob - 260
25 Orc Big 'Uns, AHW, Mus, Std, Standard of Discipline

Night Goblins - 141
27 Night Goblins, Short Bows, Mus
2 Fanatics

Wolf Riders - 65
Short Bows, Mus

Trolls - 210
6 Trolls

Lobba - 85

Total 1000

First Game was against a Dark Elf list, consisting of

Level 2, Dark Magic
BSB, Heavy Armour, Sea Dragon Cloak, Shield
14 Xbowmen (Lvl2)
26 Corsairs (BSB)
5 Harpies
5 Shades, AHW, LA
Hydra

Set up left to right

Harpies - Xbowmen - Corsairs
Shades - Hydra

Wolf Riders -

Night Goblins - Big Uns - Trolls

Lobba

O&G Spells : Itchy Nuisance
DE Spells : Blade Wind, Soul Stealer (Gulp!)

Orcs & Goblins Turn 1:
Everything marches forwards, Not a lot of need for magic, Fireball thrown towards the Hydra was dispelled. Lobba aim rocks at the stationary Dark Elves, one misses completely and gets a direct hit on the floor behind the table (he was very close to the table edge)

Dark Elf Turn 1:
Shades and Harpies run forward, probably trying to flank the Trolls and get to the Lobba at the back. Hydra does the same on the opposite flank. Magic phase is rather boring 3 dice goes into Soul Stealer and fails.

O&G Turn 2:
Big Uns and Trolls continue marching towards the Dark Elf lines, Itchy Nuisance goes off on the Hydra -4" to movement. Wolf Riders kill off two Harpies with shooting and the goblins force a wound on the shades who hold, unlike the harpies who flee to within 6" of the table edge. Lobba is on form again and scores another perfect shoot in the middle of nowhere.

Dark Elf Turn 2:
Shades march in front of the Big Uns, and let loose their shooting taking down an Orc, Xbowmen shoot at the advancing Big Uns as well and another one falls, Bladewind was cast on the Trolls in the magic phase, of the two wounds one was regened.

O&G Turn 3
Big Uns charge the Shades who stand and shoot taking another Orc out but combat is met, the Trolls advance again on the Hydra to within charge range. Itchy Nuisance agian goes off on the Hydra reducing it again to M1. Lobba lands a rock on the Sorceress's head, 5 Xbowmen instead meet their end but the unit holds. Finally in combat the General cleaves 2 shades dead, the remaining place 1 wound on the BSB. The remaining models are obliterated by the BSB and Unit and the unit reforms to face the Hydra.

Dark Elf Turn 3
Hydra declares a charge on the Trolls who hold and the Hydra shuffles a paltry 2" forward. Blade Wind dispelled on Big Uns, Breath attack on Trolls causes 2 wounds so I finally remove a Troll, the Xbowmen shoot at the Big Uns taking down another Orc.

O&G Turn 4:
Waaaaagh! Trolls charge Hydra, Big Uns complete a long range charge on the Corsairs. Itchy Nuisance again goes off this time on the Corsairs reducing their Init to 1!!! Hahaha. The Wolf Riders kill another Xbowmen and the Lobba clips another to death. In Combat the Big Uns tear into the unit killing 12 for a loss of 3. He rolls snake eyes and stays put.......
Trolls pour the pain on the Hydra and after the vomit has cleared the Hydra couldn't regen enough wounds back to live and reform to face the rather nervous looking Xbowmen and Corsairs

Dark Elf Turn 4:
Xbowmen march back past the Trolls to try and escape and survive until the end of the game. Bladewind goes off on the Wolf Riders killing them to a man(wolf) I let it through as they had very little else to achieve apart from maybe forcing something off the board. Corsairs take down 2 Orcs and get smashed for another 5 this time they break and I need to roll 4 to wipe them out, the dice tumble and.... 2" fantastic.

O&G Turn 5:
Charge declared on Corsairs who have to flee again, at this point the game was called as neither of us really felt like playing cat and mouse chasing the Xbowmen around the board.

It was a good game and adding up the points it came to a total of

O&G: 720
DE: 65

After the game it was realized that we forgot the BSB was in with the Corsairs which may not have made a major change in the fight with the Big Uns but a re roll might have made the unit stay put for a little longer. It was a good game but loosing the Harpies and Shades so early was a game changer. If he could have gotten behind me it really could have made my life hell.

Great report mate! Would have been even better with pics, but it'll do wink.gif

I really like your list. It's very nicely balanced and Jack of all trades. The troll units is massively dangerous, as well are the Big 'Uns at that point level, and the use of the magic seams to have really worked in your favor.

Great stuff smile.gif

Cheers dude, I'm trying to find an easy to use battle reporter as I have another 3 Reports to put up. One absolute spanking at the hands of Beasts of Chaos and two victories over Tomb Kings and Empire

I'm trying out Battle Chronicler for the BoC Versus O&G battle rep where I got my arse handed to me by one of my best opponents.

Another great tool is Universal Battle. It isn't free if you wanna create your own armies though, but it's a fantastic tool and even allows you to "play" warhammer online. It's very simple to use, and you can try it for free as much as you want.

LINK to armies made by others

There is also plenty of people sharing their armies, so you wont have to make every single model. Because of copy right issues, people can't upload their armies with real Warhammer Army and entry names though wink.gif

Cheers Morton

I'll have a look into those a little bit later, once I have got some experience of this chronicler thingy and worked out where I want to go to to expand on this list.

Thanks for writing up the report. I'm particularly interested in your reports because I'm about to build a bunch of AHW Big'Uns as well and also plan on running 6 trolls (once my LGS finally gets them in that is...).

Wondering if a Doom Diver might be more reliable than the Rock Lobba at lower point levels, especially since there will tend to be so much green space on the board in smaller games.

I was having the same thougjts about the diver myself I was bought the Lobba model for.xmas an its the only arrillery I have at the moment. I'm not yet sold on the AHW Big Uns just yet I'd feel happier if the mob was bigger but again thats all I have at the.moment.

The Trolls are awesome, the look on people's faces when I.drop them is often more entertainimg then the vomit noises that I have to make with their attacks. I deffinately want more as the.waagh grows.
