So its time for the next da-warpath regular hobby competition; Most of you will have seen our previous competitions. If you havent seen them I suggest you go and have a look.

The 1st (Warboss conversion) competition can be seen here. The entries here. The results for that are here.

The 2nd (Big Gribblie conversion) competition can be seen here. The entries can be seen here. The poll here. The results here.

The 3rd (Unit filler/diorama) competition can be seen here. The poll with the entries can be seen here. The results here.

Noisy Assassin won that. Part of the prize is the ability to select the theme for the next competition. To that end he has chosen the Shaman conversions.

Da Warpath’s Shaman conversion Competition

Here are the rules:

1. Any number of entries per person submitted to wizbix-at-btinternet.com
(but replace -at- with the @ sign!)
2. Closing date for entries:
* Unpainted build/WIP photos: 21st March 2012 at midnight GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) (Important: Include a hand-written note in one photo that says "Da WARPATH ZOGGIN ROCKS!" to prove your entry has been built for this contest)
* Finished photos: 30th April 2012 at midnight GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)
3. Do not post photos here or on any other sites, so the vote can be anonymous!
4. Size allowed: no limits (but see below)
5. No more than 8 photos to be submitted of your entry. 4 WIP and 4 finished.
Maximum image size 800x800 pixels.
(with no logos or names on the image please)
6. After the closing date, as soon as I can get organised, I'll post a poll with numbered entries (no names)
7. The poll will be open for 1 week
(if first place ties there will be a vote-off)
8. What is and isn't acceptable:

• You can convert any type of Orc or Goblin in to a Shaman.
• It can be either mounted or on foot.
• Magic users from other races will also be accepted but please remember that this is an Orc and Goblin fan site and we may be biased in our voting! The same applies to bosses with the wizarding hat (for example). These will be accepted, just dont count on sportsmanship votes!
• Whilst not compulsory it is recommended that you represent the magic items/weapons you intend to field with your shaman.
• You need to write a very small back ground story and suitable name - this is compulsory.
• Also not compulsory, but it is recommended that you explain why you chose the items/conversion idea you have done.
• There is no size limit for the model its self but it must be usable in game and fit on the relevant base size for what it represents.
• You don’t have to be very good at painting nor do you necessarily have to paint your conversion to be able to win. But not painting it may affect some people’s votes.
• It can be scratch built but doesn’t have to be. Even a simple weapon swap counts as a conversion.
• You can add other elements to the base such as a pet Squig or snotling or what ever, just as long as it is in keeping with your characters fluff. Make sure it all fits on the relvant base and is usable in game.
• The competition is open to every one.

9. The winner gets to decide the next competition!

Cant think of an idea? There are plenty, from a Goblin Shaman on a magic carpet to a Savage Orc Shaman with fencers blades and shrunken head to an mad old Orc Shaman with lightning crackling from his eyes. Only your imagination can hold you back in this one.

Good Luck.

I'm allowing both mounted and un-mounted this time. It may or may not be fair, though I tend to think it wont harm the votes much, but to me there are too many possibilities for me to want to limit it to either one. Of course if any of us has a major problem with this then I could always ask for the photo to be cropped to leave out the mount and only show the shaman.

Good choice. I was going to include a shaman in my next unit anyway and now I have to do something special to him. About time I converted a character model too, my new army only has standard models so far.

I'm going to try and join in with this competition, I really like that we can submit infantry or mounted shamans, it really opens up a world of possibilities. I just need to figure out what type of shaman my army needs and what I could do conversion wise.

Not sure if I have the time, but I have a great idea forming.

If I can make a start in the next couple of weeks I'm in.

I realised that I forgot to update the dates properly. There is a date for WIP's to be submitted this time and a final date. Please check the original post (above) if you are unsure.

You can take a greater deamon and slap on a green stuff gandalf hat for all I care. If you can fit it on the correct base-size.

Just don't expect any sportsmenship votes from me biggrin.gif

Well they arent technically Shamans but Noissy Assassin did stipulate that he would like this option available so yes they will be alright to enter. I will edit the OP accordingly. Whether or not people vote for it is a different matter entirely and not one I can control.

Probably sitting this one out. I've got 4 Shamans finished already, and another 4-5 already started (such that they're too far along for the contest).

Great, I had plans for a Shaman conversion for ages but couldn't get the motivation to start, now I have it! I have all the bitz already! That said the actual converting will be relatively minimal!
