An online campaign consists of a number of players divided into different factions. The factions have different goals to accomplish, and the players in the factions work towards them.
The way to accomplish goals is to take over areas and gather spoils. You get both from reporting to various locations on a map. A report can be reporting a result from a physical warhammer battle (win, loss or draw), a fluff report (fictional short story you write) or a hobby report (painting or modelling, done while a turn is ongoing). You can make one report per turn. You are represented in-game by your character. This can be for example an orc warboss leading his tribe. The players in a faction discuss and plan on how to accomplish their goals, while working on diplomacy with their enemies, and contact with figureheads controlled by the Game Masters (GMs). Someone else can probably explain better.  |

Think of an online campaign like Risk or Civilization (the great computer game - one of my favorites). There are factions consisting of other races including:
Greenskins (US!) Dwarves Skaven Inquisition/Empire Kisliv Forces of Chaos As Da Git indicated, we play games in real life (or write short stories or complete modeling projects) and post the results of these efforts each week. Based on the results, our faction captures/defends land, 5city or sea locations. We can dream up special projects, play in character with others, play in character with GM-created entities and participate in diplomacy with other factions (cloak and dagger type operations). The best thing about campaigning is that you get to spend your time with good folks from Da Warpath and other forums across the Net (and across the world). It gives you a chance to be really creative and get involved in more that just typical modeling projects or writing stories. You can be as involved as you like, no pressure. Come on in and give it a try! I have been campaigning since I started here at Da Path, and I have to say that it is AWESOME (especially the Animosity series - scroll over the medals on the left to see a few of the ones I have participated in). sounds interesting!
