I'm planning on making three Arcane Fulcrums for my Pirate Orc army: The Hurricane Anchor, The Mermaid Emporium and The Skull Sands Storm Bell (all Arcane Fulcrums need silly magical-sounding names!)
The first one I'm building is The Mermaid Emporium. It's going to be a glass tank full of stagnant water with an imprisoned mermaid inside. The base is made from left-over Warhammer Fortified Manor components with a deck made from coffee stirrers, a tank made from a Muji pen-pot topped off with a coffee stirrer pulpit (a re-purposed rowing boat from the Hogwasher that was always a bit too boxy for my taste!). The base: ![]() The open back will by planked-over like the other three sides: ![]() The tank will be filled with greeny-yellow-tinted resin once I've painted the mermaid model: ![]() The pulpit: ![]() I'm going to greenstuff all the gaps around the base to fill in some missing stone work. Crabs! |

Oi WBK!
Would you consider adding this? ![]() The bands around the enclosure might suggest a little more protection and could break up the solid glass wall. Looking good git! Da Kaptain |

Nightmare to transport, though. You'd be terrified of knocking the thing over when placing a wizard on it too!

Bit cruel, quite small for a goldfish and no filter to clean it. Poor bugger wouldnt survive long. Arfa da Grate |

Excellent! I've been at the beach reading Storms of Magic and thinking of all the Greenskin fulcrum ideas that I can. I've got a piece that I got at Adepticon that I picked up for nothing in particular. I could buy it without shipping, so I did. It's a giant pillar made of various bones (little and Dragon Bone size). I'm thinking of adding a platform on the top and calling it "the Bone Plinth". Yeah, you have to have some epic name for it.
Though....after seeing "On Stranger Tides", maybe you should call the Emporium "The Mermaid's Tear"? This post has been edited by Groznit Goregut on Jul 14 2011, 11:31 AM |

That sounds ace! Who's it made by? What about "Gork's Maelstrom of Skulls"? ![]()
Ooooh I like that! ![]()
I like the idea but I want to make sure you can see the mermaid in the tank when it's full of tinted resin - but I know it needs some kind of frame round the edges at least. |

OK.....it was bugging me that I couldn't recall who I bought it from. So, I went to Adepticon's page of vendors and recalled it once I saw the name.
Armorcast is their name. They have a bunch of stuff that I always thought was cool, but didn't have the spare cash for. Here is their painted version: ![]() I figure that I add a little platform on the top with the dragon skulls poking through. Maybe have some sort of magic circle around them and make some sort of candle to go on top of them or something? The only problem with that is that a monster couldn't fit on top of it. Hmmm..... I was originally thinking of just making it a big platform on top, but those skulls were really cool looking and I thought to use them. I think it messes with the whole idea, though. I just might have to cover them up with the planks. Now, I used to think I could never do something with planks, but seeing your stuff through the years has given me confidence to know it won't be too hard. |

Looking good mate, I love the crabs. This is really going to come alive once you add the mermaids and the 'water'. Looking forward to it!
