Hi,

I've been out of action or sidetracked for a couple of weeks. But I did manage a little more progress on the big guy before I crashed my bike last week bringing a complete halt to all my hobby's while my smashed up elbow healed. Good news is I've avoided infections so far and he stitches come out in a day or two (I hope) and I feel like doing some painting today. Anyway here's where I was at the Saturday before the bingle.

The back side of the axe (The front is moving too just not as fast). A fair bit left to do here but is looking better than flames, black and a little gold.

I managed to get some good work done on the edging of the thigh plate but only the upper one on the left hand end. I am a snail.

Some smoothing of transitions required and finish off the rest but going well I think. What do you guys think?

The bright gold armour plate edging, is just what this model needed to bring it to life. It adds that extra colour and contrast that the model was lacking, it definitely looks like its on the road to completion now. I'd maybe add more white to the rune on his foot and arm bracer to make it look like it's glowing bright and hot, but I can't wait to see you get the rest of the armour painted. Keep up the good work!

A little progress again, right leg mainly and a bit on the belt. The inside leg shot is a bit crap.

Looking good, I think the gold NMM work much better than the silver, the silver is lacking something and doesn't really look like silver. Where as the gold definitely looks like gold. The problem might be the silver is a bit too dark overall. Maybe some coloured glaze blue or purple perhaps might help as well.

Having said that it can be hard to judge looking at photos rather than the real thing.

On a brighter note, I love the flaming Khorne rune on his foot and think you're doing a great job overall, its going to be awesome when you're finished.

Cheers CB,

I'm pretty happy with him so far (save the time I'm throwing at it. That said the time is enjoyable).

Point taken on the silver. It needs some more refinement and the sharpening filter i used in PS has kinda nerfed the look The dark look is intentional though as I'm not going for nice shiny stuff more like used blacksmith tools like this nvil

I'll add some blue and brown glazes to the mids and shadows later on I expect and refine the glints on bits like the heel guard too.

I've just had a look at it on a different computer monitor and it actually looks more silver on that screen so I wouldn't worry about it too much, it's definitely looking pretty good.

Hi Boyz,

I'm still floating around out here and still painting a little. Had a lot of life intruding on hobby time and kind of got sick of the webz too. Had an 8 day spell in hospital after a push bike accident and the trauma surgery required to clean me up. Back to normal nearly now though.

I've moved a little on the big guy but still have some hours left to do.

He really is looking rather awesome! I'm impressed that you can keep up the motivation for painting this guy... I mean, it's been 1½ year since you started this ohmy.gif The level of detail is incredible though smile.gif

Heh, I was also wondering where this thread went just the other day... Nice to see it back! I am hugely impressed with the attention to detail you are putting into this... I can't wait to see it finished...

Working up the black membrane on the wings. Just partials of a couple of segments so far (too many hours too).

It will get some black washes targeted into the grooves as I continue and then an overall very thin black ink wash. I was aslo thinking of some very thin dark green glazes on the darker half of the scales.
