Looking forward to the mid-season finale next week in the US (yes, we are now a week behind the UK).

My boys and I had a thought - could the doctor who was killed have been a 'ganger?

I've considered that myself, but I dont know if
  • 1) the ganger would be able to start regenerating
  • 2) the ganger wouldn't have gone liquid when killed

Not in the least, I thought them a marked improvement on the first set.

What Draig said. I really enjoyed the latter half of the season.

I'm still not sure I like the fact that they split it into two halves though. I can appreciate that it drags the time out longer, and means there's less time to wait until the Christmas special, but for me it just meant that both halves were over too quickly; I ended up feeling like they were two seperate mini-series than one series split in two, and I'm not sure I like it. I think I'd much rather have a big block of 12 episodes...

I felt most of the second set episodes felt a bit rushed, as if they had to cut away to much stuff to get the episode to 50 minutes. it was particularly noticable in the "Lets kill Hitler" episode, as well as in the finale.

To me it felt more like old school sci-fi. You had to pay attention. The plots in the non filler episodes demanded concentration as they evolved quickly and with complexity. I really enjoyed that.
