Orc Group: Members Posts: 565 Member No.: 3,721 Joined: 28-April 07	I cannot really believe that people were surprised when Sean Bean died in the show - even those that have not read the books. He dies in just about every movie he is in. You can count on one hand the number of movies where he does not suffer a dramatic death. The only period movie I can think of that he lives through is Troy - since he plays Odysseus. In fact, when I first heard he was cast for Eddard Stark I thought he was a perfect choice due to how good he is in roles where he dies (ie: almost all of them).

Having read the books, pretty much the entire series builds on the hardships of the Stark family trying to survive without Ned. That's kind of the point. And people should have read the books. I understand that TV shows and movies have a bigger audience than books (because people are lazy, and reading requires at least a minimum of effort?) but you can't appreciate the extent of Martin's fantasy world and the intricate plot through just watching the series. I watched a preview of the show on Youtube and could hardly help myself from spoiling important parts of the plot for people saying things like "OMG Drogo and Dany are like soo cute together, I hope they don't kill him off!" and similar. >.< Theo
