I thought you might enjoy this blog that will be detailing the making our local clubs GamesDay 2009 table in Baltimore. Also, I will be adding details of my Orc Pirate army for the Baltimore Grand Tourney in November. Now what are Orcs of the Karibbean you ask? It is a combination of my loves of cinema, Pirates, Orcs and sailing vessels. Based on the Man O War game from GW, it takes those excellent rules, blows them up into a Warhammer scale version, adds some cinematic and creative liscense, a dash of ideas from Da Warpath and alot of dedication! The end result will be a complete army for me to field at the Baltimore GT and also the backdrop for the club tables at GamesDay 2009. Below are some previous years pics, some W.I.P. pics for 2009 and the army list I am working on for the GT. Looking to get comments, crtiques and ideas from folks based on what you see. Avast! First off here are some pics from GamesDay's past: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are a few WIP from Tzeentch's Triangle: ![]() Captain Saragoss the Thrice Cursed ![]() Da Captain & the Brine Witch ![]() Annuver shot Some sample artwork and sketches: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Da Kaptain This post has been edited by Kaptain BlackSquig on May 1 2013, 02:30 AM |

Wowser, ya salty dog! Those are great! I remember reading all about this battle before the Haxor crash, and I got some inspiration from your posts. Ya gotta see my Dreadnaught blog for that, Snaga.
Can't wait to hear more about your plans. I will have to check out your army list. YAAAR! Goomb |

Hello,
great to see you back here snagafang. I'm really looking forward to the models . The list looks solid but I miss wolfriders and spiders in it, maybe you can loot Kurgan's idea from making crab riders that you can use for spider riders.Keep up the good work, it looks promising. Greetz G |

Ahoy Snagafang! Those drawings are absolutely fantastic!! If you don't mind I'll have to loot some (or indeed all!) of those ideas! I loved seeing those old photos again as well. Looking forward to seeing the 2009 table develop too! This post has been edited by WarbossKurgan on Jun 25 2008, 06:50 AM |

As promised Mateys
Here is a short list of the conversions I plan on having in the army. Please note that while maybe not the most effective of lists, it will be the most fun for me to play and model! The Kaptain: Plans include a newer version using alot of the new plastic Orks from 40K, a LARGE Kaptain's 'At, squig beard, duelling pistols, etc. The great coat is still on the back burner though. The Kommadore: This is the model I have thought about the least yet will be the focal point of the army. He is responsible for raising the morale of the Ladz during games and so will be the centerpiece of the army. I was thinking of a treasure chest, Jolly Orc flag flying about and maybe a few Gobbos with shovels. But again, not really planned out yet. The Boyz: Just loads and loads of plastic Orcs with all the Pirate trimmings. Depending on their look, I plan on using the new 40K plastic Nobz to make the unit of Big Uns. More Pirate trimmings, better weapons and a really honking standard. The Arrewr Boyz: More Pirate Orc goodness, this unit will "count as" Arrer Boyz even though I plan on arming them all with handguns. Whats a Pirate Orc army without a little gunpowder. Am I right? The Gobbos: Again, these will be an assortment of Gobbos that use the same tactic I used back in 2004 for the Orcs of the Karibbean. Lots of Skaven weapons, Militia arms (pistols, blunderbuss, etc) and plenty of greenstuff! The Night Gobbos: Dont know how many of you remember the Troglogobbos from waaaay back. They were part of a feature in the 2004 (I think) Warhammer Cronicles. A race of aquatic Goblins basically. I plan to use them as "counts as" Night Goblins. Basically they will be half naked Goblins with clawed feet from the Wolf Rider sprues, with nets thrown in to bring that aqauctic feel to them. As far as fanactics go, again these will be "counts as" models. Now someone had mentioned some time back that using an ancor for the Fanatic would be neat. But I dont know that that would fit with what I am after. So I am thinking of just making the Fanactics carrying huge nets adorned with marlin spikes and hooks. Nasty little buggers that might draw blood from curious onlookers! The Savages: These are my whale hunters and will be spear/harpoon armed. The Savage Orcs are part of the Karibbean fluff, large tribes of hunters that live off of squig whales, kinda like in Moby git. These guys will have lots of warpaint, darker green skin and a whale bone standard. I am going to add a few in the back ranks carrying a small fishing canoe as well. The Spear Chukkas: While I am not 100% sure I will takes these, as I see them in every other Orc army, they do fit the theme when I model them up as Squig whale harpoon kannons. Ratty old Pirate Orc bullies keeping the Gobbos in line! The Squig Herds: Modelled using the Gobbos in diving helmets with spears prodding the Squigs. Taking a page from the Fish Orcs, I plan on making Sea Squigs modelled as sharks! Hammerheaded Squigs, some dorsal fins, webbed feet, etc. The Hoppers: Modelled the same, Sea Squigs with diving helmet Gobbos on their backs. One of the FUN units I am looking forward to modelling! If I make any chages to the list it will be to add a Goblin character mounted on a Giant Sea Squig. Will see how the list pans out....Sea Trolls: Basically using the River Trolls with webbed hands (see cover of Warhammer Skirmish) plus added barnicles and a big tail to aid in swimming. Doom Diver: More aptly named, Depth Diver. These crazy Gobbos are launched off the decks of the ships, attatched to barrels of powder in much the same fashion as a depth charge dropper from todays naval vessles. They are used to drive the Squig whales to the surface where they can be harpooned. So the launcher will look alot like the depth charge droppers, diver helmeted Gobbos strapped to barrels or gleefully riding them, a luancher and some standby crew. And that pretty much where I am right now. 247 minis, 4 months, and a lot of fun! More pictures to follow as I get rolling. Thanks for looking Gitz! Because Cap'n Goofs would keel-haul me if I didn't add these links...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maori http://images.google.com.au/images?hl=en&q...ch+Images&gbv=2 Now, my Kiwi history is rusty (what with being Australian and everything) but I *think* that these guys did a lot of fishin'. Alternatively, look up the Torres Strait Islands for their inkwork (if any). Either way, I think I found the paintjob for your Savages ![]() On topic: dude, NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE however PhotoBucket musta gotten rid of a few of these as all I get are squares telling me that PhotoBucket can't find the piccies....Cheers! Borzag! Matey!
Thats EXACTLY the look I wanted for the Savages. Now I need to find a color that works on greenskin to do them! Not sure what happened to the sketches but they seem to be working OK for now! Cheers! This post has been edited by Snagafang on Jun 25 2008, 01:36 PM |

Must resist the urge.......no, I must!
How about RED? Bah, most greenskins have red. I suppose you want to be unique? The thought of "savages and forest gobbos using red snotberries for warpaint" popped into my head! Impressive and ambitous plans, Snaga. I hope you have some time on your hands to git er done in the next 4 months. This whole army is in addition to your other 20K points of greenskins, right? Oh, one more question: where did you manage to find the wheel for your ship? It looks really good and the Dreadnaught needs one....badly. Goomb |

Goomb Therein lies a story. I actually, beleive it or not, got BACK the 20000 worth of painted Orcs & Goblins I was wack enough to sell. Plus I have the unpainted thousands to do as well! Near 40000 point so greenskins? Its not so much I am against the red paint on the whale hunters, I am looking for something that will show up n the greenskin. I was thinking bleached bone might not be too bad. White is to much but maybe a yellow? Those new Foundation paints work great over dark colors. So I think I am going to dabble in that direction. I got the wheels for the ships at, of all places, a craft store. They are in the dollhouse section, along with coiled ropes, crates, barrels and other things. Its worth giving the craft stores a shot once in awhile. They have good stuff from time to time. |

Crazy I am! But yeah. I have roughly another 17000 or so points of unpainted stuff. Stupid amounts of stuff too. Like the unity of 20 River Trolls, the airforce of 6 Wyverns, dumb stuff! I am looking forward to the conversions though. The Squig unit should be a hoot to build. Its the Orc Pirates that are going to take the most time to do I think. And I need to come up with a color scheme for their clothing too. This post has been edited by Snagafang on Jun 26 2008, 01:58 AM |

Updating
After thinking about the modelling posibilities and such, I am going to add in a Goblin Hero on a Cave Squig to the list. In the normal Orc & Golbin army, Night Goblins can ride these, and since my Night Goblins are Trogogobbos "counting as" Night Goblins, this Squig would be along the lines of the shark headed Squigs I am planning on having. What I was thinking was to model it with a squid face, or maybe some sort of Maw from the Deep? Either way, I do want to add one and wondered what you all think I should cut from the list to make room. I am torn between a unit of Gobbos, and a unit of Trogogobbos. |
