Hi All,
have to make a new warboss and want him to be largest orc on table, so looking for suggestions. But first the restrictions: can't be metal as army is plastic (resin in emergency) as part of challenge with other gamer; must be GW as will be played in-store as only venue near me. And not a savage Warboss. Having a quick look at GW site Grimgor looks the biggest but I really don't like the head in his right hand as feels wrong when not playing against Empire, so if he is the biggest any suggestions? Has anyone gone to the trouble of magnetising different heads? Any and all suggestions appreciated. Morgoff |

It wouldn't be too hard to do a hand swap with Grimgor in finecast - I didn't take off the whole hand, but I did take of the hanging ribbon from where it joins up with Grimgor's torso and that was a snap. Also, whatever you choose consider basing it on a raised bit of stone or wood so that he stands over top even more. |

A Ogre bull with a orc head also works IMO, add a little greenstuff armour and he's even better, even seen someone use a minotaur/doombull body with a head swap and greenstuffed feet to make a even more impressive boss.

Only problem with a handswap on Grimgor's is that his hand is huge, so using a standard plastic Orc or even Black Orc hand often looks a bit odd as the size doesn't match up. One way around this would be to use a 40k Ork hand of one of the larger nob models or something. Alternatively you could use one of the 40k Ork models eg the Warboss with Big Choppa, and do a few weapon swaps to create a cool slightly larger Warboss.

Mmm, there's a bunch of stuff that can match and surpass grimgor in size. First of all there are the 40k warbosses, that are quite bulkier and have the biggest orc/ork head ever made (except for the keichan xD): they're quite easy to convert, I have 4 or 5 of them in my army ATM. You can also use an ogre gorger, cause the regular bulls are too fat in my opinion. Some old minotaurs are also great bases for the conversion, but they're made of metal. Another option is the Black reach plastic warboss, he is quite huge and you can easily swap the claw with an iron fist from the ogres set and convert the bionic eye in an eypatch. You could try to get hold of a classic heroquest minotaur, that is a plastic miniature, and convert it to a big warboss. You could also combine the lower part of grimgor with Gorbad's torso, I think it's slightly bulkier. Crazier conversion could start from an ogre character, a crypt horror or a minotaur, but they would need a lot of time and cutting/reposing. AH! I also used one of the Island of blood rat ogres to make a gorilla-orc hybrid, but you can also model some armor pieces for him and run the monster as a non-savage orc warboss

As already said the black reach warboss i one of the biggest around:
here it's next to some regular boys ![]() another alternative could be the ork nob torso from warbiker orks, it's quite big. |

Thanks for the ideas guys.
I am severely tempted by the 40K Warboss with squig - does anyone know what the parts breakdown is? ie is it body/head/arm/arm/back? Might use him for my second lord/hero or even BSB. But the winner will probably be the AOBR because of his size and cheapness [imminent redundancy is putting hold to many plans, gaming and otherwise ]TP - I have the Heroquest minotaur I think, as i have a box of Dungeon Denizens picked up cheap when they were clearing stock in Brisbane years ago, wish i'd bought more. But want to keep him as he is for old times sake. When i get around to finally organising my shed will have to start posting pics, even if da boyz will now take longer to finish. |

Front of chest + head clips with back of the chest + legs, if I'm not mistaken.
Claw is not a separate piece, Right arm is an entire piece by itself and lastly the backpack (with weapons) with back banner are another piece. Personally, I cut of the wires and some other bits and the Axe but kept the Claw to have him look more like something from Chaos Dwarfs than from Ork Meknology. 40k warbosses can be awesome. Heres a simple conversion that idiot can do (not calling you an idiot by the way
:![]() And with a little more effort you can make him look even better: ![]() The 40k nob's are also worth a look as they are so eay to convert to warhammer bosses: ![]() You can easily cut away and hid all the future'istic stuff. Hell I have a whole unit of big uns converted from 40k nobs and I can use any of them as bosses if i chose. ![]() |

the warboss with squig is made of head, arm with squig, arm with gun, back banner and body with legs.
here "a bit" bad pic but you can notice the size of(from left to right) -plastic orc warboss( pretty little so i use it as normal boy) -plastic ork nob -metal grimgor ironhide -metal ork warboss with squig - AoBR ork warboss This post has been edited by Klavier on Sep 26 2012, 08:10 PM |
