Hi all.
After weeks and weeks of lurking and gathering all of my old gobbo together, I have decided to start work on a plog to keep me going through the long grind of a gobin army.

My aim is to have an all night goblin force, along with the weird creatures they keep! I will be trying to convert the other units in the army book to a night gob theme and will be making some of my own models ohmy.gif!!

Without any more waffling on, here is my collection and work so far!

user posted image

Not the best pic, but shows all the models I have, including 180 gobbos, some spiders to be converted and based, lots of wolves in need of night goblins, a squig herd and some war machines!

I have started to work on the first 40 goblins and some tester squigs!

Oi! You Cabage!

Either you shared the wrong links or your Photobucket is private, but I'm not seeing anything.

A fine start of your army. Very unusual but fine looking. The white and blue squigs are fun!
Though I would add a little wash and shade to the blue of the goblins to make it more 'vivant'.

I second Kees' comments.

The white squigs look good. But the blue is a bit too clean.
Some devlan mud wash (or whatever it's called now) should remedy this.
You'd probably need to redo the highlights but it'd be worth it.

Also perhaps you could ad some chipping paint to the banner (just paint black where you want the paint to be chipped and paint metal color in there leaving just a small line of black showing).

Really like the overall look to your army. Some great contrast!

How do you do your basing? I really like it.

The rock monster unit filler is really cool also! A small suggestion you have a rock as a second unit filler, see if you can find a model or two to put on it. This will tie the piece together better (in my opinion smile.gif ).

Final observation on the unit, where are the nets! yarr.gif

Whats next up to paint?

Thank you Grok for the comments biggrin.gif

The basing is suprisingly simple and looks even nicer than the pics show! I will get a step by step up this week for them, but basically its a bit of cork/slate and some products from a company called Basecrafts.

I have planned on that rock monster being a stone troll... but I made three of them and they are all a little small.... so unit fillers they shall become! For the rock, I was planning on some sort of diarama....but cant decide lol...

I have 4 gobbos and plenty of bits...just cant make up my mind. Any ideas welcome!

No nets sad.gif all the gobbos I have are from the BfSP set... but next up is some fanatics - I have 6 in total including three of the ol' skool metal ones!!

Sorry for the wall of text, but more pics to follow tonight!

This army is shaping up nice, when I saw the first picture of all the grey plastic I thought oh dear there's too much to do, but your tackling it nicely. I like your colourscheme, although I think you could add some sharper edge highlights to your blue to make it pop a bit more. Your basing is nice too. Keep up the good work!

Totally nice army, the combination of a simple and clean paintjob and a solid basing job is worth the time you're spending on it biggrin.gif
I really like the unusual scheme for the squigs biggrin.gif

Nets can be pretty easy to create for any goblin model if you feel inclined. Just take a bit of the bag you get oranges in, clip it to the desired size, and glue it to an appropriate model (perhaps after the removal of a weapon).

Are the four gobbos you have BFSP? If so they are pretty difficult to change lol. If you don't want to use all those fanatics in game a fanatic on the rock could look cool. I also like the idea of mixing some models from other units into each other (makes it look more orc and goblin like), so perhaps on the rock you could put a lone spider rider, or some other model?

Thanks for the kind feedback CB and Prince. You are most certainly right about the extra highlights.... I think I will get the rest of the gobbos painted then go back over the lot to pick out a bit more detail.

Grok - the spare goblins are also BfSP lol... I have some random bits I can add to it, maybe a small fire and cook pot to make a kind of camp? other than that I have plenty of spare spiders and wolfs I can convert to Night goblin units smile.gif

I havent got too much painting sorted today, but here is some WiP shots from today and my first fanatic! just about completed.

Nice looking army so far man.
Really like the rock troll filler. How did you make it? Another person on here made a whole unit of rock trolls.
The use of washes throughout is very effective, i particularly like the squigs, and the ice shaman's staff top is great.
keep it up...
