I was bored on my way back from a tournament and read the OnG book again...
It came to a part about Warbosses and leaders (lore/background part)

It mentioned that Warbosses that die were often quickly replaced by a new one, in battle or outside battle.
Wouldnt that be some unique mechanic for OnG for 8th ed?
Your general dies, and lets say a big boss is nearby, he takes over the role of general(he still remains a big boss).
Unless some other character with higher LD is nearby, say 12". Who then gains the general role instead.

Stupid and op perhaps... But its an idea biggrin.gif

Well it sounds like a good idea but I think alot of players will find it OP, but then again you could lose alot of points to the enemy if he manages to kill your "general" several times, ie kill every boss that becomes the new general.

Maybe just the first general is the "Real" general and only that one gives points for assassination and vp in general.

I really dont see this being an issue in being op really...
As our lack in LD in the first place would not be fixed by this but allowing us to have higher LD than 5 on our NGs almost throught the entire game...
If we still keep them within the reach of the general that is.

Im looking at this throught gobbo army view atm...
and having something for orcs that is special in a good way is something i would like to see, to make orcs more special... Atm we have a double edged blade, Animosity.
That and size matters are the only thing we have that no other army has, and size matters is actually included partly in other armies as well...
Guess we got the ability to call a waagh... but that doesnt help us Ng horders.

Lets play a scenario here.

We have a Goblin Warboss leading the army, A Ng shaman, a goblin bigboss and a Ng bigboss as other choices.

we have 5 blocks of ngs.
One containing the warboss, one the shaman and the bigboss and one with the ng bigboss.

Lets say shamans cannot do this as they arent really striving to be leading the army.
So only if the shaman is the last hero alive or the only one within range to witness the downfall of the general. Only then can he take over as a "General"
The bigboss, warboss and ng bigboss are connected throught 12" within each other.
The Warboss dies, the model with highest Ld takes over the role of general,(maybe have a LD roll on each model instead? to see who takes the initiative of leading the army)

But then we have 2 bb witnessing the death of the general. so 2 goblin bigbosses for example.
They have the same LD, Maybe they should fight over leadership? or just basicly do a leadership test, the one that fails it the least gets the "general" status.

So the benefits of the status?
12" ld sharing ofc!

This doesnt make your poor ld5 army loose because your general dies... You now instead of having LD 7 you have Ld6 or depending on which bosses you use.
i prefer using only ng bosses. but thats just because of the awesome robes.

In orc armies?
would say its pretty much the same. and anything other than warbosses doesnt supply alot of more ld than what orcs have anyways.
Borc bb has 8. sure its a big jump from the NG 7
but it still doesnt make it insanely op....

Ideas people. Feedback?

Anyone in possession of the orc book, read the chapter about orc bosses. its freaking hilarious biggrin.gif

Just if it were like that in the game wink.gif
