Hello everyone.

I am in the process of building my first Orcs and Goblins Army. I am hoping to make it quite competitive, although I am very new to the Greenskins and so I am not sure how to do that completely. I have made a list that I think will do fairly good, but it does need a little bit of help. There's still about 50 points remaining for me to add to the list - but I am not sure how to use them. If there is anything that can be suggested to optimize the competitiveness of this list, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

This list is a solid start, but I think it could use a couple of flankers for extra damage on the cheap. I employ Wolf Chariots in this role. I think bringing the Banner of Eternal Flame on your Black Orcs can also be useful.

Thanks for your advice! I like the idea of throwing in Wolf Chariots, but have no clue what I would drop for them.

I was toying around with a few other ideas and I came up with this list. I would love to know which of my two lists are more competitive and how I can make them even better.

I like the second list's base more (Savage Orcs are tremendous), but I don't understand why you've gone the double level 4 route - we'll never have the power dice for that to be efficient. I'd also save some points by making the BSB a Black Orc Big Boss rather than a Savage Orc Big Boss, and give him the Talisman of Preservation for a solid Ward save. I think you can start looking at making a beefy Warboss to supplement the fighting prowess of your unit of Black Orcs, which is otherwise on the small side.

In the second list, only the NG shaman is a level 4, the SO is only level 3. To be honest, I only included the SO great shaman because I have read a lot of praises regarding using it with the listed gear on this forum. Personally I am a much larger fan of goblin magic that orc magic, so the SO's magic will likely not be used all that much - now that I think about it, that does seem to be a huge waste of points.

In regards to the lists posted above, all Orc characters would be joining the SOBU unit. I am keen on having a BO warboss or big boss in that unit to quell animosity (is this necessarily worth it?) I have also included the SO BSB in the second list so that I could include the Standard of Discipline. I could kill two birds with one stone and make the BOBB who is already in that be the BSB and remove the SOBB, but then the decision between tali of preservation or standard of discipline comes in. Thoughts?

The unit of savage orc big uns are my main combat unit, while the small unit of Black Orcs are mostly just there to support them. Is that worth it?

The Arachnarok is another concern I have. It is obviously proven to be very good in combat, but it also has a huge target on its back and will be the first priority for warmachine fire. Sitting at 290 points, is it worth using the arachnarok even though my enemies will make it their priority to kill it or is it more appropriate to ditch the spider to include more black orcs or the chariots?
