I usually run a 21 strong bow unit with muso, usually to hide a shaman or two in, and protect the warmachines/flanks. I also have a 29 strong unit with standard and muso, and nets if points allow. With a fanatic or two, they can be a distraction for the opponent.
My other unit is another unit of 21 with muso and 2 or 3 fanatics. This is purley a FDS and tries to get flanks or die horribly in some useful (or amusing) way. Oh, and all my NG units have NO spears. They are a waste of points in a disposable unit. RoV |

I thought I'd mention that I followed some of your advice and went with a 20 model strong night gobbo unit with shortbows. In my last game against lizardmen, they teamed up with my two chukkas and shot down a stegadon after two turns, before it managed to do anything.
I was very pleased with them. |

however when using nets in conjunction with blocks of orcs (making them effectivly T5, 3+ as), that is all the more reason that the enemy will attack the gobs... keep in mind the trade off, (ie i don't throw my gobs in vs my buddy's saurus, cuz he'll probablly rack up more kills off the gobs anyway)
