Stabs big things.

In a bit more detail, if your savages charge, it will do D3 S5 impact hits on any monstrous creature (or is it anything with the large target special rule?). Looks great, bit overpriced for something that situational. Most big gribblies will either deploy elsewhere or get the charge on you first.

The Big Stabba can also be used as a Great Weapon so even if your charged it is still going to do some damage. Dont forget the Choppa rule as the first round of combat it is +1 Str ohmy.gif

Um, I don't think so? No mention of it being a great weapon at all in it's rules p40.

I got it slightly wrong in the first post; it always gets D3 impact hits, but they do their D3 wounds each hit only on large targets.

Oh, Da Spawn Man, call that a knife? tongue.gif

If the big stabba counted as a giant great weapon then it would be a must have, instead of a never have.

i have used the great stabba and found out it is well worth its cost.
for 20 pts, you get a garanteed +1 wound/ +1 CR.
its 1d3 S6 hits, so theres a great chance of all the hits turning into wounds.
compare it to the war banner: 35 pts for +1 CR X +1d3 wounds/CR if you get the charge.
well i found that with all our cheap diverters, is kind easy to get the charges you want, when you want (aside from animosity, *ahem*).

20pts for a unit upgrade that allways amounts to +1d3 wounds on the charge is a good buy in my book.

the multiple (d3) wounds to large targets is an added bonus, in my view.

I still take it for the hopes that I get to charge a monster. I ALMOST did one time.....but failed to roll the total of 6" I needed. sad.gif

I want try to bring it most of the time, even if I am short on points. I bring it before I do a bully for a war machine. I just wish I could remember it for those times that I charge and it's not a monster...

I find the Big Stabba to be a bit redundant even when it works, because a unit of savage orcs charging anything will generally be sufficiently choppy already.

On the other hand, it's a brilliant model (just finished painting mine :)) and I wanna put it on the table without having to explain that it's only there for looks. Redundant or not, that's probably a good enough reason to start paying for it and using it.

To clear up:

It gives the unit of Savage orcs the Impacthits (S3) special rule while the units has at least 2 ranks of 5+ models (Including the first rank). These impacthits benefit from the Choppas special rule so they are effectively str6 (As per the FAQ). Each wound from the big stabbas does D3 wounds against models with the large target special rule.

i always take the big stabba because i made the model, it is also i believe strength 6 due to the choppas rule i find it always does at least one wound on the unit i charge and tend to think of it as +1 combat res and yeah its a threat to monsters as well

cheers
